  • Works well as a computer monitor
Style: 4K UHD, 3200 Lumens Pattern: Projector
I wanted to add a review for using this as a computer monitor in case others were thinking of the same. The unit is very bright. I don't have to close my windows if I'm looking at high contrast things like text. Color isn't maybe as good as more expensive projectors, but I found it to be fine. I found that using 1080p resolution for desktop use was better than 4k as the pixels are a bit fuzzy at that resolution which makes text not look as good. This is due to the pixel shifting tech used (any 4k projector sub $1600-2000 will use this). The screen is very detailed at 4k showing movies and games, however, and the pixel shifting kind of adds a bit of an anti-aliasing effect. I dare say I might actually prefer a pixel shifting projector for computer use as it lets you decide between 4k 60hz and 240hz 1080p with both modes having their own strengths. I feel I have two monitors I like for different reasons which is cool. There is just a slight perceptible lag on 4k, but its really not bad. I don't notice any at 1080p 240hz. And it really does go that high, the difference between 120 and 240hz is noticeable, and it looks really good at the high refresh rate. I actually prefer it over my 144hz 1440p monitor. I don't think this would be good enough for esports compared to a 240hz monitor, but its very close. Remember to use the game mode. Overall it works better than I expected as a computer monitor and I'm happy with it and feel it was a good value for the money. Other thoughts -I wish the power plug was longer. I'm not going to install this in ceiling, and I had to use an extension cord for it to reach down to a plug that is only a few feet horizontally away. -The remote is a bit old fashioned looking. Not a big deal to me but I think ViewSonic should update the design. -Sometimes the unit makes a strange whirling sound that is annoying. Usually it doesn't and it has done it less as I have used it. Its not the fan, it sounds like something is spinning that is not lubricated. When this isn't happening I found the fan noise to be fairly low and constant. -Its very easy to switch between modes like normal and eco, needing only one button to be hit. This is really nice since the bulb has a lifespan. If I know I'm going to step away from the computer for a few minutes or am going to just be looking at text I can switch it to super eco in two seconds. -SuperEco at 240hz flickers, changing to a different refresh rate fixes this. Some tips: -Dynamic Eco is basically as good as normal in terms of color and brightness at least when its showing a bright image. That's my main setting. I think it just dims when the screen is dark. It is better than eco (but not super eco) in terms of bulb life according to the manual. -Make sure your resolution is 1920 by 1080 if you want 240hz. If its 1920 by 1200 if will default to 120hz. -if the projector is located above you, make sure you turn the projector upside down. It will need next to no keystone correction that way which keeps the image at native. ... show more

  • Stunning for a Budget Projector
Style: 4K UHD, 3200 Lumens Pattern: Projector
DISCLAIMER: This review comes following just one evening's use of the projector - more specifically, one two-hour soccer match plus the 30 minute pregame show. The colors are brilliant and the screen detail is magnificent. We replaced a dead 1080 i/p projector in which the bulb exploded and brought it to a saddening death. We were completely satisfied with the 1080 Epson. This ViewSonic machine is in a totally different class. Going from 1080 to 4K with such bright and brilliant colors was actually unsettling. The detail was astonishing. I'd swear I could see the ribbing on the soccer players' socks. Even the faces of fans in the stands, the vibrant color of the soccer kits, the texture of the grass on the pitch, all of it was just astonishing. Then you really see the difference when you see commercials, or just standard scenes from studio shots. I even took a quick break to look at the news. All of it was just overwhelmingly crisp, bright, and colorul. When my wife came into the room for the first time, mumbling "Okay, I gotta see this..." she exclaimed, "Oh, wow!! That's amazing! It's so bright that it is almost painful." We're just not used to it. The only drawback came because of my own configuration. The control center is at the front of the room. We have a 30' run of high-end HDMI from the control center to the projector mounted on the back wall. The predecessor projector needed a signal booster to make it work. I had completely forgotten that unit was in place. I burned three hours trying to figure out why the ViewSonic would not detect our Roku device or the DVD/BlueRay. Just a black screen. I eventually traced the problem to this signal booster. Removed it and "voila!" Everything worked. The projector auto-detects what is the maximum resolution it can display with the attached device. Really - no complaints at this time. I believe this was a solid buy. ... show more

  • Solid Projector for Both Office and Mobile Use
Style: 1080p, 3500 Lumens Pattern: Projector
I'm very pleased with this projector. It's notably bright and connects seamlessly with various devices. However, to achieve the best visibility, especially during mid-day, it's necessary to have the room fairly shady. The image quality when focused is impressively bright and clear. The keystone correction feature is helpful for squaring the image along one axis. That said, it’s important to note that this projector needs to be centered along either the horizontal or vertical axis to function properly. It cannot project diagonally across a room (from one corner to the center of a wall) and still allow for keystone adjustments, which might be a limitation in some setups. Given its performance, this projector offers good value for its price. I would recommend purchasing a carrying case for it, as this makes it easier to transport and protects it from damage. Overall, this projector is a commendable choice for anyone looking for a reliable and bright projector without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Best value-for-money projector
Style: 4K UHD, 3200 Lumens Pattern: Projector
After my very old projector died, and after a deep market survey of 2 weeks, I ordered this projector. I've been using it for over 2 month now, and In my opinion, this is by far the best value-for-money projector you'll find. It has a great quality (up to 4k), nice speakers, silent mode function that helps a lot since it's installed mainly in my room. Also, it's high lumens make him suitable for outdoor projecting even in the twilights. I also has a 200$ cheaper version with up to full HD quality, but I chose this one because it also have a manual corner adjustment and horizontal keystone correction which is best for me due to installation diagonally to screen. I'm attaching a photos so you can all see the acctual quality. My girlfriend father liked it so much that I'm now ordering another one for him!!! Thank you for this awesome projector Viewsonic!!! ... show more
