  • Great, thought provoking read!
Great book on the SAK, with a lot of often overlooked tips and tricks! Enjoyable to read, well paced, finished it in one sitting, and look at my knife in a whole new list of possibilities.

  • Fun book for everyone
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love Victorinox knives and carry one daily. My son and I read this book together and did some of the projects. It was a lot of fun and time well spent together. This would make a cool present for any young person who enjoys the outdoors and appreciates preparedness. ... show more

  • Beautiful book!
Got it for Christmas. Glad I did. Giving 4 stars because the quality of the print book is very good. Excellent, even. I took a star off because the proofreader wasn’t accurate enough. The beginning of the book is nice and the color photos in the book are high quality. I’m a bit confused as to the purpose, though. Not ALL models are shown. So why show any? How did they select the ones that are shown? Why didn’t they include the most popular, flagship multitool in their line, the Swiss Champ? The proofreading of the tool photos left some inaccuracies. For example, the Expedition Kit (p. 17) shows obvious errors in tool labeling. Surprisingly, after this I expected to see plenty of spelling or grammatical errors in the book, but I don’t recall finding others. Some of the ideas and/or techniques in the book are questionable ideas. For example, building a heat reflector out of logs for your campfire. Wooden walls can block wind, but wood doesn’t really reflect heat, it absorbs it. Otherwise, why would it catch fire and burn? Heat is transferred by radiation, convection, or conduction. It’s reflected by reflective surfaces. Natural wood is not a reflective surface. Covering your wooden wall with a Mylar space blanket might work, but I digress. Some of the tips and suggestions in the book are very good. Others are underwhelming. The section on making cordage from plants was a disappointment because that task is a bit detailed and complex, yet the book addressed the issue in text only without any photos for guidance. The book is clearly marked with the Victorinox logo and the company is listed in the credits, so it’s safe to assume this book is sponsored by Victorinox. Not offensive to me because I’ve been a fan of, and carried, Swiss Army knives for decades. Can you find other, or better, ways online to do some of the tasks taught? Sure, but the book isn’t intended to be exhaustive. It’s about the Swiss Army knife. The possibilities are virtually endless! I doubt it’s possible to write a book that could exhaustively cover all that you can do with a Swiss Army knife. This book is just trying to expose you to the possibilities, to teach some basic bushcraft ideas, and to open your mind to see the multitool and the world around you a bit differently. The book looks fantastic and the quality of materials is excellent. It’s certainly a great gift for a Swiss Army knife enthusiast or someone new to them. I do recommend the book and think it would be a good gift companion to a shiny new Swiss Army knife given as a gift. ... show more

  • The coverage of the various models of Swiss Army Knives.
I was an outdoorsman for 75 years and carried a Swiss Army Knife most of the later. They have so many models it is hard to keep track. The Author is an inventive genius as he has developed many camp gadgets that can be made with the knife as well as additional uses for it. He enhanses the book with many outstanding color photographs taken by his wife. ... show more
