  • Best value for mid-level scanner and diagnostic tool...with great battery monitoring!
Color: OBD2 + Battery Tester
I did order this before I needed it, and then had my first chance to use it on sister's Kia, reading her cylinder#1 misfiring. Replaced her ignition coil for her and retested and reset the check engine light. Have used it on checking batteries before winter, charging systems for the Kia and Fords. Very happy with the item and accessories and the info provided...and a neat storage bag to keep it all together! Can't go wrong in my opinion! ... show more

  • Initially impressed
Color: OBD2 + Battery Tester
The Vevor KW681 handheld is the unit I tested. This OBD2 scanner packs a lot of features into it's price, I suppose that aligns to their "Tough tools Half Price" mission. As a reviewer, let me state I don't have experience with other OBD2 readers, this is my first one. Also, I am a novice for automotive repairs, so I'll be limited in what I can share. For my use case, I wanted something I can use to get an idea of what's going on with my vehicles before heading to the shop. Maybe I'll even be confident enough to do some repairs myself now that I couldn't before I had this. Some initial impressions: The cabling is long enough to reach from the battery into the front of my vehicles for doing the battery cranking test. The OBD2 connection cable is also reasonably long to reach across the front seat area. For battery testing, I performed the units both in and out of vehicle testing and the results seemed consistent. Of note, I did have some variances on my second vehicle battery where it said it had a bad cell and the voltage was reading low. I powered everything off and repeated the test a second time and it passed without the cell error. As a backup testing measure, for the second test I attached my own voltmeter to the battery while testing and (see photos) the results for voltage aligned. Thus, I think my first test may have had a loose connection (or maybe I didn't allow the lights on/off step to complete properly? As noted above, I can't compare battery testing results to a more trusted brand/tool yet, if I get a chance to do so I will update my review at that time. For OBD2 Testing, the connection felt secure to the vehicles diagnostic port. The display powers on immediately and menu is accessible very quickly. Upon starting the car it takes about a minute to sync up. the diagnostic connection was quicker on my newer vehicle than my older one. Once at the main screen the navigation is pretty easy and aligned with the user guide which was in English and easy enough to follow. So far my only complaint is that in direct sunlight the display is had to read (See photos). Especially hard to see is the very feint outline of the menu icon. In a garage or in shade is very clear, just not in sunlight. Neither vehicle I tested has any codes active at this time, which was confirmed by the reader. I can't test erasing codes function but looks like it will work. I noted that this package includes a usb cable to allow for downloading software updates. I checked the Vevor website and wasn't able to find a product support page, just their sales page so I'm not sure if there'll be any updates. Time will tell. ... show more

  • A Lot Of Features At A Decent Price
Color: OBD2 + Battery Tester
I should start by saying this is only the second OBD scanner I've ever used and the first I have owned. With that being said, so far I am quite impressed with this fine OBD reading apparatus. This thing is loaded with features, or at least it seems so to me. It of course reads/clears codes, but it also has stuff like a battery tester, an O2 sensor test, data graphs, and several other things that I haven't even attempted to dive into yet. It also has a pretty cool feature that I like called I/M Readiness. Which means inspection/maintenance and tells you if you will pass an inspection or not. One thing that I like about the code reader part is that it doesn't just give you the number code, but it also tells you what that code means. Instead of having to go look it up like with simpler and cheaper code readers. As far as build quality it seems to be a well built and pretty durable device. I'm sure it's not professional grade, but it's more than adequate for the average person. The cables, clips, and connectors are all plenty strong and of good quality. It's little storage bag is even made of a heavier material than most similar bags and it is nicely embroidered on the front. It takes a little finagling to get everything into the bag, but it does fit pretty good overall. It does come with some pretty good instructions that are plenty informative, but also easy to follow and not overly complicated. Overall it just seems to be a very good, feature packed, simple to use OBD reader. It should be more than capable enough for most of us DIYers and shade tree mechanics. I really am glad I decided to get it and I absolutely would recommend it. On a side note it is also a sexy orange color, which we of course all know is the more gooder and most bestest color ever! ... show more

  • Perfect for what I needed
Color: OBD2 + BMW Full System
This is a great diagnostic tool if you have a BMW, however, the bonus is that this will work on any type of vehicle. If you have a BMW, the OBD2 scanner will support the regular BMW, BWM-MINI, and Rolls Royce models. If your don't own a BMW, the scanner still provides battery matching and solves simple issues. I plugged this 16-pin scanner into my car socket (consult your owners manual for the location) and it provided a code as to the reason for my "Service Engine Soon" dilemma. It weighs about a pound and has a smooth design that is easy to hold. It comes with a strap and a nylon storage bag so you can keep it in your car if needed. It was ready to use right out of the box which I liked and it can be charged with a USB cable (included). ... show more
