This wide magnification range also makes it extremely useful for shooting macro objects (E.G. Insects) with different sizes. Moreover, the lens is also designed for normal shooting purposes with a 60 mm focal length, which provides an all-in-one solution for normal portrait shooting as well as ultra-macro photography. The lens houses with 9 elements in 7 groups patented optical structure to provide great deal of image clarity and color renderness. The optical system consists of 2 major moving lenses groups in order to minimize the barrel distortion. 14 Pieces of aperture blades form a close-to-circular aperture, capable of creating creamy shallow depth of view. • Amazing for the price!
*: Black
I love this lens. Of course auto focus would be great, but with the magnification you get with this lens simply moving your camera slightly forwards/backwards is almost easier than trying to use auto focus if you aren't using a tripod. For the price, this lens is amazing. The images are consistently clear and have great detail. They tend to be on the darker side so a flash is often necessary even during the day, unless your subject is in direct daylight. F2.8-F8 will give you the sharpest images, F11+ will generally be on the soft side, but any lens has a sweet spot in the F-stop. Overall, for the price, this is a fantastic lens. ... show more

  • Take photos at a distance first then move closer
*: Black
I love this lens, the image quality is amazing in the right hands. With enough practice with this lens, you can take some stunning photos with it. It was also just what I was looking for, a lens that could go from .1x to 2x magnification. I will also say this, I'm no professional photographer, is just a hobby of mine but I was still able to take these cool photos, so don't let the all manual lens worry you to much. For the price that I paid, I'm very impressed with this lens, definitely worth the money. ... show more

I have shot macro since 1982...… and this lens is amazing! If you are considering, Do It!

  • Not Capable of Consistent Field of Focus
*: Black
To say that this lens lacks depth of field does not begin to address the reality. More concerning is that, at any given point, focus is not consistent across a focal plane. Attempting to do macro work using live view on a Canon 5Dmk3 with focus peaking enabled reveals a strong contrast between this lens and, for example, Canon's 100mm L macro (which, to be fair, costs twice as much): Canon's lens shows narrow depth of field (as expected at 100mm), appearing in concentric rings that move across the focal field consistently as focus is adjusted; this lens has a surprisingly similar depth of field (at 60mm) but without any of the same consistency. As focus is adjusted on this lens, focus peaks do not move in nice regular rings but instead clump in distributed focal nodes that become more or less distinct as focal peaks. I understand this to be an expression of the underlying lens focus being inconsistent, defined by nodal points that do not sufficiently combine to create a consistent focal plane. Working at 20x zoom (using live view via CamRanger on iOS to a CamRanger mini), I was unable to achieve consistent focus between elements on the same focal plane. In my view, this renders it unfortunately useless as a lens. ... show more

  • Great Value
*: Black
I got a used one for $200 and it's a lot of fun. shooting at full 2:1 macro can be challenging. Your depth of field even at f22 is TINY. And at that magnification the end of the lens is literally 2" or less away from the subject. Can be challenging to use a flash in those circumstances. But like I said, it's a lot of fun and can get shots that no other lens in that price range can get. ... show more
