  • Great little seat
Color: Black
If I had to put one seat on all of my mountain and road bikes for the rest of my life, it would absolutely have to be this one. While I do realize that everybody's bum is different, and seat-choosing is all about personal preference, This is a very, VERY good starting point for riders in the "I'm sort of fat, but I'm not that fat" category (IE, between 180-220 Lbs.) It has a lovely channel in the middle which doesn't really do anything for air flow, it just gives your crotch some breathing room. The padding is relatively stiff, meaning you won't droop into the seat (causing pressure in all the places you don't want it) So short of making an ass of yourself and buying an 18 inch wide Walmart seat, This is as comfy as you can get for under $200. The quality is okay for the price, I did find it was crackling around a lot after about a month. I just unscrewed the back plastic trim and put it back on and that all went away, So I'm going to assume the screws were just moving around in there. Aside from that, I haven't had any broken rails (it looks like that reviewer had his seat clamped beyond the maximum line on the rail) So don't let that put you off! Please do keep in mind that every seat is different, because every person is different. Some people say this seat sucks, simply because they have odd sit bones, or because they have no clue what to look for in a seat. Don't judge it until you try it, and don't get all angry if it's not what you need. It took me 3 tries to find this one. I really do wish I could put one of these on my vintage bike, but that would ruin the look :( ... show more

  • Best seat I’ve ever written on!
Color: Black
I absolutely love this bike seat! The first one I bought was about 10 years ago and it still going strong. I just bought another one for a different bike and it’s exactly the same. I use this on a hybrid bike with a suspension seat post. I’m 5 foot nine and have used this from the time I’ve been 175 pounds to 230 pounds and back down. I’ve never had any issues with numbness since the channel is nice and wide. The seat is definitely wider than a road bike seat and much narrower than a cruiser seat. It’s right in the middle which is exactly what I like about it. Very well-built and sturdy as I’ve come to expect from Velo seats. When most people who aren’t regular bikers see this seat, they think it’s going to be too narrow and uncomfortable. Once they get on it for a ride or two, they seem to change their minds and really like it. ... show more

  • Improvement over a basic saddle, but not perfect
Color: Black
I ordered this seat last week after some chronic, uh, pain as a result of a standard bike saddle. Like, some really *epic* pain, I'll let you fill in the details... anyways, the reviews for this saddle were pretty good and the pictures show that it has a deep and (thankfully) wide channel to provide relief to the male anatomy. I went ahead and bolted it up to my carbon-fiber Specialized road bike and adjusted the positon for maximum comfort, and took it for a quick three-mile run to see how it felt. No pain after getting off; sweet! I didn't ride it again that day just to see if the pain would come back later. It didn't. I did a longer ride the following night, about six miles, rested a couple hours, then went ahead and did another six. No pain. Last night, I did a 20-mile loop up Sunset Blvd from Hollywood to the beach, then south down the coast and back up Santa Monica Blvd, and am happy to report that there is absoluely none of the pain in those special areas that had been keeping me off my bike and in bed. This said, BioLogic seat feels like it has next to NO padding; it's super, super hard. My old saddle was a Selle San Marco and the padding was MUCH better, however it placed all your weight straight into that sweet spot between your legs rather than your butt. Even with a downward tilt, it was too narrow for me (I'm 6'2 and very stout) and still irritated the same areas. Properly adjusted, the BioLogic makes it so all your weight sits on your butt and there's no pressure elsewhere, however, it DOES make for sore glutes if you're going on a longer and more spirited ride. It's wider at the rear than a standard road bike saddle, though not comically so like a beach cruiser's, and still allows for aggressive posture if you need to bust it in a straightaway or downhill. Bottom line: for the cost, this is a great seat if you're worried about being able to father children someday but still want to ride your bike for short-to-medium jaunts and are exerting medium-or-better amounts of energy. For long rides pushing yourself hard, i.e. triathlon training or touring, this seat WOULD be perfect if it had a bit more generous padding towards the rear. Make sure you wear padded shorts and you should be fine. ... show more

  • Good seat, good value
Color: Black
Replacing the stock seat that came with my hybrid. Bike saddles are so subjective there's no one size fits all, but this saddle is comfortable enough, good width, and reasonable pad density. If you're not looking for a wide saddle or a ton of gel cushioning it's a good fit.
