The Muvi x-lapse enables a film maker to take up to 360° Degree sweeping time-lapse images that when edited together create an amazing movie effect.It has both male and female standard 1/4 -20 UNC tripod screw threads for both mounting cameras on and also for mounting the Muvi x-lapse onto a tripod, perfect for lightweight action cameras with a continuous photo mode such as the Muvi HD or GoPro or standard cameras with a time-lapse feature up to a weight of 750 grams. For cameras that are slightly top heavy The Muvi x-lapse has integral fold out feet to support and distribute the weight. As well as using with camcorders/cameras The Muvi x-lapse ships with a Holder for iPhone/smartphone and in conjunction with a multitude of smartphone apps enables even the most inexperienced user to make super cool sweeping time-lapse movies. Another option for the most creative of photographers is creating panoramic super wide angle photos by using the Muvi x-lapse to slowly sweep a panoramic view while the camera or smartphone takes intermittent shots. Nb -the Muvi x-lapse does not come with an app or software but these are readily available on app stores and the internet.

I compared a few of these devices, including a DIY hack, but for my $ this was the best value. I used it recently on a time lapse during a ski trip to Aspen with my GoPro, and the results were fantastic. A nice, steady spin with no jerking motion. As an added bonus, it comes with an attachment for use with a cell phone. This can be removed to reveal the standard 1/4 threaded tripod mount. The base has folding "legs" that steady the body of the device, but also has another 1/4 threaded tripod mount. For my most recent time lapse, I secured this device to an omni-pod that was then strapped to another structure. The entire assembly performed brilliantly. The device is light plastic, but appears well made. If treated properly should provide many years of service. The only question I have remaining is how it will perform in adverse weather, such as rain... ... show more

    • Muvi X-Lapse
For the most part this is a good little toy. It works well with my gopro and the extendable supports are nice. It feels cheap and plastic y, but what do you expect. I put this on the dash of my car with the gopro heading back from a trip to Kansas City, and at 70mph on rough roads and ups, downs and constant turns it never moved once from where I put it. I also attached it to a accessory rack on the inside roof of my car, hung it upside down and ran the gopro. I was pretty impressed it still worked and was accurate even hanging from the roof. It is a glorified egg timer but it works and that is what is important. I gave it 4 stars for the same reasons some others have. The ticking is down right annoying and the bell has to go. The phone attachment that comes with it is nice to have also. And the metal male and female threads are a good plus. Just get rid of the BELL! Also a lock for travel when not in use would be nice. ... show more

    • Good Device. BAD Plastic. Terrible IPhone Clip
Nice device. It works great before it breaks. The iphone holder clip broke within the first 3 days in my camera break. That clip is made of very thin and weak plastic. I will do an exchange and give this little device another chance.

    • Better than the other "lapse" thing I was looking at
This one you can put on a tripod with the camera on top, put the monopole on top of this (it has stabilizing feet) with your camera on top or use on a surface with the camera. It works with GoPro, pocket cameras and my larger Canon camera. The "kit" comes with an attachment to put your phone on and run video or time lapse with your phone cam. Seems sturdy and seems to work well with all my cameras. Plus getting it on sale was a better bargain than the other I was looking at which could only be set on a surface and take smaller cameras. Now, you can not put a 1 lb camera on here I'm sure, but it takes my slightly heavier Canon. ... show more

    • Does not work...tick ticked for a bit then stopped. Tried mutliple times on 15-30 60 interval settings.
After reading many reviews we decided to order and try. It is a cool little device; but does not work. We wound it to the 15minute marker and it started ticking. We watched as it moved then stopped, before getting to the 0 marker on device. We twisted it again, this time to the full 60min marker. Once again started ticking...then nothing. Multiple attempts were made to give it a fair trial...fail. They did a great job on the cool markings and feet that swing-out for added stability. The tripods mounts are compatible with our equipment 1/4 20 threads. Nice manual & packaging. The product however completely fails in any functional manner as described. 1 star for the company making an effort in their attempt to deliver a aesthetically pleasing device. We do not like the "Hate" wording for one star on amazon reviews... We do not "hate"..it does not work. We need a product that works not just simply cool in looks. We hope others have better luck. We hate waiting on products then have to return them. Waste of everyone's time. Kudos to those of you got a good one. This one will not be making it into travel plans. ... show more

    • Fine for the low price
I bought this after reading the instructions for making a DIY version with a kitchen timer. I'm pretty sure this is built around the same integral mechanism as a kitchen timer, right down to the ringing bell. It works as advertised with both a GoPro and an iPhone. It only turns in one direction, and at one speed, so it limits you a bit. I wanted to shoot a time lapse of late afternoon shadows moving across a building, and the speed of the turn needed to be a lot slower. I'm sure I'll use it again from time to time, but it definitely won't work for every situation, for example a shot that calls for a left to right pan. It doesn't seem especially well built, so I'll be handling it carefully, but for $20 I don't expect it to stand up to heavy use. ... show more

    • Panoramic Time Lapse Made Easy
I purchased this on a whim I have been trying to find ways to punch up my videos, and being able to add time lapse and panorama elements are just perfect. It's timple enough to mount the device on a tripod, wind the device, slip a smart phone in the holder and sit back and let it do all the work. I've done 10, 30 and 45 minute lapses with the MUVI for far and I can't be happier with it. Easily works with GoPro or DSLR cameras as well! ... show more

Tried my first steady time lapse with this last night with iPhone 6, works great. Even better on a tripod. I do feel I need to be extremely careful with this, one drop could destroy this - the casing, the timer, the holder, etc. Not hard plastic and it feels like it could break easily. Also be very careful with the plastic clips that holds the phone. Do not move/adjust the phone side to side while the clip is holding the phone. The phone clip holder did scratch my iPhone 6 screen ZAGG Protector. Nothing major, but I am very glad I did have a screen protector - also thin iPhone case. (I would highly recommend a screen protector and case before using) Also rigging very small tiny pieces of black electrical tape over the clips, even 2 or 4 tiny pieces of a thin rubber band can add a sort of "cushion" to avoid any possible scratching to your phone. ... show more
