  • Great Budget OBD Scan Tool
The Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner is a handy and user-friendly device that brings convenience and diagnostic power to vehicle owners. This compact scanner offers a range of features that make it a valuable tool for both car enthusiasts and everyday drivers. One of the standout features of the OBDCheck BLE scanner is its wireless Bluetooth connectivity. By pairing the scanner with your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, you can access real-time vehicle data and diagnostics directly on your device. This eliminates the need for additional screens or displays. The scanner's compatibility with a wide range of OBD II vehicles is impressive. Whether you own a car, SUV, truck, or hybrid, this scanner is designed to work with most vehicles manufactured after 1996. This compatibility ensures that a majority of users can benefit from its diagnostic capabilities. The companion app that comes with the scanner provides a user-friendly interface for reading and interpreting diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and real-time sensor data. This can help you identify issues with your vehicle and make informed decisions about maintenance or repairs. The compact and portable design of the scanner allows you to easily carry it in your vehicle or store it in your glove compartment. The wireless nature of the connection means you don't have to worry about wires cluttering your dashboard. One potential consideration is that the scanner's functionality might be limited based on the capabilities of the manufacturer-specific diagnostic protocols of some vehicles. Additionally, while the companion app is user-friendly, some users might prefer more advanced features and data visualization. In conclusion, the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE Bluetooth OBD II Scanner is a valuable tool that offers wireless connectivity, compatibility, and user-friendly diagnostics. Whether you're a car enthusiast or simply want to monitor your vehicle's health, this scanner provides a convenient way to access real-time data and diagnose potential issues. ... show more

  • unexpectedly awesome
I bought this because I had a check engine light and I wanted something cheap and easy to check it with. I thought I would return it after I knew what the CEL code was because why would I ever need it again? But instead, I have found probably the best bang for your buck car "mod" I've ever purchased. This thing gives you SO much cool and interesting live data while driving that it literally has a warning when you install that app to not use it while driving (you will, you won't be able to help yourself). From basic stuff like RPM and speed; to more interesting stuff like fuel consumption, horsepower, and average MPG; to obscure things like coolant temperature, Air-Fuel ratio, and timing advance. Personally I built a dash that shows instant horsepower, instant MPG, average MPG, and a few other interesting metrics. It's just so fascinating how these things interrelate. For example, I found is that while accelerating up to speed I get about 10 MPG and average the exact rated MPG for city driving (23 MPG) in the real world BUT highway driving my MPG is much higher than rated. at 80MPH I get about 30 MPG and at 65 MPH I get 40 MPG despite my car only being rated for 27 MPG highway. There are probably plenty more interesting little things I will find as I play with this app, but in summary: This little device is way more than a CEL code reader. It's a full live data examiner of everything your car is doing. If you are a car nerd or even just a data nerd, this will be one of the best $20 you'll ever spend! ... show more

  • The end of a painful journey
I went through a few ELM 327 ODBII scanners with no success. I got this one, and it was a bit better, except "Car Scanner" couldn't connect to the car (a Hyundai Ioniq 6 EV). I called tech support, the guy on the phone suggested things I'd already tried, and said a that a tech would respond later in the day. I figured out that I selected the wrong car in the connection profile. Apparently different cars use different protocols. True to their word, the tech emailed me later in the day with a detailed analysis of what was wrong, and even gave a list of apps to try. Car scanner kept dropping the connection after several seconds and reconnecting. As a result the functions ran very slowly. I followed a hunch and bought the Pro version. The connection profile for my car had slightly different wording. And suddenly it stopped dropping the connection. I figured it's because the car model is only a few months old. I've only used it a few hours so far. I originally got this to monitor battery temperature during charging, but there's so much more this can do to inform me of how the inner workings of the car is behaving. ... show more

  • It actually works
After trying an assortment of cheaper ODB dongles and getting mixed results I decided to give this a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it connected to my phone's Bluetooth. It then followed up by connecting to my Car Scanner app almost as quickly. It easily beat the other 3 I was trying (some of which either wouldn't connect or wouldn't stay connected) by a mile. I feel like it's a little more expensive than it needs to be but when I think of the hours I spent with other ODB dongles only to have them fail it might be worth it. I've only had to use one maybe 3 times in the last 2 years but if you do this a lot then it's definitely worth it. ... show more
