These boots absolutely change and for me became significantly more comfortable after the first 6 miles and even more so after the 12+ mile trip. They do get hot and have no ventilation, they were fine with decent thin hiking socks in 50-70degF weather. Even after break-in they are stiff and supportive. I was looking for ankle support to help deal with extra weight of backpacking these did the trick. Definitely seem like a boot that could cost twice as much. I mostly wear womens 8.5 sometimes 9. These are amazing boots. Go a 1/2 size bigger For summer socks n 1 size bigger for heavy winter socks. The leather gives a little with wear. These are fantastic hiking boots! A very solid sole with excellent traction, soft but supportive boot structure, overall awesome design. These are built for backpacking & hiking, and are much more heavy-duty than the sneaker-type hiking boots that are available. Plus, I love how they look, very basic & classic. They are more narrow than I expected, and I have bunions, but I don't feel any hot spots on my skin so I think there will be no problem. I had a pair of Vasque shoes for years, and when the sole wore out, I knew I wanted the same brand again, because that pair was so amazingly comfortable from the day I bought it. I've had the same great experience with this pair! I have been wearing them around all day, and even brand new, they feel great. Warm, cozy and no blisters! I can't wait to take them on some hikes. I've seen others rate these shoes as "running small," but I ordered them in my usual size (8) and they fit perfectly. I typically wear a solid size 8, and they feel AMAZING. I wasn't sure from the product photo whether they'd look more brown or red/orange in person. Definitely a great shade of brown. The best waterproof boots I've ever owned. I work outdoors in all types of weather, so these have become lifesavers. No one likes working while having wet feet all day. I have worked in rain for 8 hours and my feet were completely dry in these boots. I have stepped in puddles that were a few inches deep, feet still dry. 35 miles of the Appalachian trail and several hikes before and after- I’m a happy camper. Pun intended! Only weird thing is not having a tab to pull up when you put them on in the back. So you just have to lace down about 1/2 way. My feet stayed dry and bonus- they are cute. 100% recommend

I had really hoped by the reviews these would make a great pair of hiking boots. I have wore them daily around town and at home. Then a 5 mile hike and a 6 mile hike. My feet were extremely tired and sore. I almost had blisters on the bottom of my feet. I even purchased excellent inserts for them.
