  • This ash bucket is perfect!
Quite a few of the reviews I read said this ash bucket was small, but I think it’s a perfect size. I’ve already cleaned the ash from our fireplace twice, and I still have room for more - we burn quite a bit of wood. Who wants a big ash bucket by their fireplace anyway?? My husband and I like this item so much, we are going to order one for our remote cabin. ... show more

  • Mostly good
This has a lot of good features but I took off 1 star because for our wood stove this is a bit small, but the safety features are well worth having this bucket. 1. The lid fits well and keeps hot embers from being spilled or blown out as you take it outside to dump it. 2. The bottom has a 2" air gap so hot embers are not directly on the bottom where they could heat up and catch the floor on fire. 3. Overall the welds are good, the handle is sturdy and they include glove in case the handle heats up. 4. The spout is helpful when dumping ash. You can direct it where you want it to go. I would definitely order this again, I just wish it was a bit bigger. (we have burned wood for heat for 25 years. Improper handling of ash is a huge potential cause of housefires. Never leave hot ash in ANY container in ANY part of your house/or building/garage. We immediately take them outside and spread them in snow.) ... show more

  • It's a bucket to hold ashes with some cheaply made hand tools
The title of this review says most of it. It's a bucket to hold ashes. I didn't expect much out of it. The bucket is made of a very thin gauge metal and is haphazardly welded together. Thus far, though, it has held up to several fireplace cleanings. The tools it comes with are pretty useless. The brush lost half the bristles on first use and the wooden handle on the shovel has started to separate from the metal stem. Again, for the price and expected function, the bucket is doing the job. Long-term, though, this will need to be replaced every couple seasons if not every season. The quality and craftsmanship is simply not there. ... show more

  • Fire season has started.
This not only functions great, but it looks so much better than our old one. I love the accessories. Didn't really think I needed them, but on man do they make it all that much better.

  • Solid quality
Disclaimer: it’s not yet winter so I haven’t actually used this for ashes yet. That being said, I’ve used ash pails for a while and this is the nicest one I’ve come across - at least in this price point. It looks really nice aesthetically, and it feels quite durable. I don’t recall reading this, but it feels like it is double walled, which would mean you can put hot ashes in there without the outside getting hot. The lid fits perfectly, the pouring spout is functional, and it comes with a nice wooden handled, scoop,, and grippy gloves. Gloves, I would assume R for keeping your hands clean? They are definitely not heat resistant gloves. I’ve never had an ash pale with a lid, and the dumping the ash out has always been a messy proposition best Dunn outdoors and downwind of anything important – like kids. With the lid and pourspout on the bucket, while the poor will be slower, it should be much more controlled and generate a smaller ash cloud. Not only that, but it will be great just to have the lid, so I don’t have to worry about my toddler or inquisitive dog getting into it if I leave it on the back porch to cool down. I’m not suggesting putting hot coals in here, even if that is not a good idea, but I have zero concerns about this bucket to contain hot ashes with embers I expect to have no issues with the bucket, and impressed with the quality so far, and if anything changes during the season, I will come back and update this review. I think my only critique would be that I wouldn’t mind if the bucket were a little bit bigger. But if you’re using this for casual use, it should be fine, and if you burn Wood or or Kohll all winter, then you probably have multiple bins like I do. Looking forward to using it this winter. All in all, I think it’s worth it for $40 ... show more
