I was driving home from Nashville one night, and I got hungry. I'd been trying to lose weight, so when I stopped at a gas station, I looked for something without a lot of calories. I saw this Tapatio pickle with 10 calories and gave it a try. Maybe it was the fact that I hadn't eaten for 7 hours, but the pickle was maybe the greatest thing I'd ever had. It's extremely salty and fairly spicy, but at the time, it was the most satisfying thing I'd ever eaten. I came home and immediate bought a box of 12 on Amazon. They arrived. They are still amazing, and I usually eat one every day. This will be something I keep stocked in the pantry until they decise to stop making them. The Tapatio pickles have a unique flavor and are now some of my favorites. Unlike a lot of hot pickles that add heat to a salty dill or sour, this pickle is subtle and very tasty. It does start with a nice garlic taste, and the pickle itself is a little salty and quite flavorful. Once you're done, there is an interesting finish as you get a mild spicy/pepperish burn on the back of your tongue that is very nice, and that doesn't last long. The real irony is that I love the Tapatio pickle but don't care at all for the Tapatio salsa piccante. ... show more

I have tried many of the other Van Houten's pickle bags before, but this was my first time trying the Tapatio flavored pickle. Super pleasantly surprised, the heat level is mild to medium depending on who you ask but it builds with each bite. I found the flavor to be delicious, and not as salty as I remember some of the previous pickles to taste. If you're not sure which flavor to get and you like a little heat, definitely give the Tapatio a try ... show more

I've been eating the Van Holten pickles for years going back to when they were called "Papa Portly's" but found they were increasingly harder and harder to find in my neighborhood but when I found out they were available thru Amazon, I felt like a kid in a candy store and wasted no time in ordering a couple of 12 packs! My favorites are the Kosher pickles and even though I wasn't raised Kosher I was brought up eating Kosher pickles in New York. They are the closest thing to pickle barrel pickles I have ever found on the west coast and when this batch is finished, I won't hesitate to order another batch or two! ... show more

I took a risk and bought the 12-pack of the Tapatio pickles. They were even better than I imagined. Pretty spicy, but not overly so. Just so good! I can't recommend them highly enough.

I had one of these from my local grocery store & fell in love. Went back later to get more & they’d stopped selling them in this particular flavor, so I had to order them from Amazon. I absolutely love these! I see a lot of mixed reviews on here...being someone that grew up with sour pickles; my family used to buy them at a restaurant called Amato’s by the 5 gallon drum. I’ve been searching for that same experience for over 20 years and this is the closest I’ve come! They are a bit irregular in size, and periodically there will be one that is more or less sour. There will also be one here and there where the skin is “tougher” than another, but I don’t believe with this item, they will ever be all identical. After purchasing 4 cases so far, I would say at least 75% are large in size and equally sour. Where I live, They cost 2.00+ each and can only be sporadically found in certain gas stations, so it’s definitely worth it! ... show more
