  • Great Overall Pedal
The Valeton bass pedal is a great multi-effect pedal that not only gives you a great variety of sounds including chorus, octave, a built-in amp with bass, mid-range, treble and gain, but also a built in tuner. It also has a weird affects feature, but I wasn’t too thrilled with that part of the sound. I also use it on my guitars, especially the octave button for an amazingly awesome and original sound. I tried three or four pedals, some more expensive than this one, some less expensive, but this had the best overall quality and sound! ... show more

  • The octave handles a low b
The main thing I worried about with this pedal was the octave. Alot of octave pedals wander in the lower registers, but thankfully this one doesn't. It's not very loud in the lower notes but at least it doesn't wander. It is plenty loud in the mid and high register where you really would want an octave. It would be nice to have a one up and one down instead of 2 down but oh well. As for the other effects the controls leave a bit to be desired as far as adjustableility but they all work good and as far as a throw it on the floor and go pedal this one is great especially for the price. It's not going to replace any fancy studio pedals but I would definitely recommend this over an effects processor especially if you want to sound decent on a budget. ... show more

  • Just the "Bass"ics
This pedal does exactly what I need it to do without adding a ton of features a bass player will never use. The autotuner is very sensitive; the compression is an every day must-have; and the chorus option is my most used after compression. I've have some fun playing with the octave option and all of the variations of the amp cabinets, depending on what song I'm playing. This is a very well built product that will last and do everything I need at a reasonable affordable price. I always do plenty of research before buying and there were others for nearly double that I know I wouldn't have liked more. I'm so glad I got this. Another much more seasoned bass player noticed it and ended up getting one for himself! ... show more

  • Great all in one solution.
For portability, you cannot beat this. Well built. All the effects you would need for bass. Been playing it for a month now. Will this replace my main board? No, but for quick to gig. This is great. For the money, you cannot beat it. For practice, small gigs to the garage. This pedal rocks. Great as a backup pedal too. ... show more

  • Versatile Pedal/DI Box on a Budget
Very impressed by the Dapper Bass! I was initially looking for a bass driver pedal that had an XLR out in case I couldn't bring my bass amp to a show. After some shopping around and talking to other bassists, the idea of a fly rig sounded very appealing, but most fly rigs were way outside my budget. I was initially skeptical of this because I had never heard of the Valeton brand, but I decided to take the plunge after reading some positive reviews and it did not disappoint. The stars of the show are definitely the Bass Amp, Comp/Boost, and Chorus sections. The amp simulator sounds great and can get quite dirty with the gain past noon/1 o'clock (a tad low on volume if the gain isn't turned up to at least 9 o'clock though). The compressor/boost circuit works fine and really helps beef up the amp simulator's volume and clarity. It gets a little clicky if the comp is turned up too high, so I recommend keeping it at or below noon. The chorus sounds great and adds a lot of depth and lushness to your bass signal, but a rate knob would be nice. The Dirty Q is a nice touch (very reminiscent of the EHX Bass-Balls pedal) and can be fun to use, but I haven't had the opportunity to mess with it outside of my practice space or some funky solos. The octave section may be my only real gripe. I wish that it had one octave down and one octave up instead of two octaves down. It gets very glitchy on anything below a low C, so keep that in mind. On high notes, it does have a nice synth-y tone though. Overall, I'd have to recommend this pedal. Very fun and useful, and it's the best fly rig I've seen at this price point. ... show more

  • Good and simple.....!!!
This product is very compact and easy to use. Once you have found the sound you like for each effect, it is a set and forget piece of equipment. We all have to remember, when you are hired as a bass player, 95% of the time, you probably are not going to use any effect at all, but it’s nice to have a few in your arsenal to spice your sound a little bit. The compressor works nice and I like that you can get that squished bass sound from pop music when there’s a slap part on pop music. Plus, the boost part of it does exactly what it is. The DirtyQ effect to me it is unusable. It sounds like a keyboard patch for very rare solo parts with sharp attack. The switch to add fuzz, makes it sound even worse. I found a setting almost all the off, which could be used. I would suggest a separate envelope filter pedal for this. The amp section is nice and a great sound can get achieved even with a little overdrive to it. The octave effect is very good and tracks well. The chorus is also good as you can dial a good sound for those times where you need to play “Don’t stop believing”. All in all, I would use for any gig as it covers a a wide range of possible sounds. It feels well made and solid. ... show more

  • Not bad, could be better **update**
Quality is good, but it is however a multi effect pedal. It does many things good but nothing great. When I got this it was such a cool idea it's all in one and I dont have to carry around a full board. After using this for a while the compressor, preamp, envelope, octive, chorus, and tuner pedals that are all made to do the one job and nothing else, do a much better job. Tracking on the octive pedal is really bad. ... show more

  • Ok
Really clean on a board with some fx options that don’t take up a lot of real estate but the overall quality of sounds aren’t great. Good but very basic chorus, and compressor. Octave tracks ok but gets muddy fast if you dial it up. Good construction though so if you just need a little something to give you tonal options this isn’t a bad way to go at all. It’s gonna stay on my board to supplement other things too ... show more
