Once again the photo's are deceptive. This is a very cheap netting very thin like fishing line. It certainly won't stop deer, birds possibly. Not rodents either. Not even worth the effort to send back. Do they count on this to make a buck?

The roll was very large, although if you have a big garden or some large trees, it can be used very quickly. The netting is easy to cut but like any netting, not so easy to maneuver. That's not really the manufacturers fault, that's just how nets are. As for deterring animals, I doubt that a rat or a mouse won't be able to get through this. This is a good value for how much netting you get for the price. I use it to cover a vegetable garden to keep the birds and squirrels out. It works great for that. I wouldn't expect it to keep mice out and I don't know about deer as they are not near me.

Every year I go to war with the local squirrels. As such, my best deterrent has been adorning my beds with bird netting from the local big box store. This netting, as it turns out, is a very good value for the amount you get, and works just as well, if not better than my previous netting. I was able to protect all three of my gardens with the included netting. I use metal ground anchors to keep it in place and then I wrap it around some bamboo poles or small stakes. Does the trick and keeps the squirrels from digging up all my baby plants. Of note, this has a tighter pattern of four holes at the bottom and top which is really good for anchoring. The color isn't my favorite but once it is spread out isn't horrendous. Overall, this is a good amount of netting for a reasonable price. It is easy enough to cut and use. It does stick a little bit to unfinished wood but that's par for the course with this stuff. Anyhow, I'm quite pleased with it and it seems like it will hold up throughout the growing season and possibly the next too.
