  • works solid
Size: 10ft
i've been using this for a couple months now, i often restore macos over the internet. i also use it on windows laptops and pcs to run updates without using wifi. i don't think i've come across a machine made since 2017 that hasn't readily identified and utilized this adapter, across windows mac and linux. the speed is satisfactory. the braided cable is a pleasant touch, regular ethernet just attracts grease dust and whatever that rubber sticky stuff they coat laptops with is ... show more

  • Great cable. One less dongle for my iPad Pro
Size: 10ft
I ordered this cable for a livestreaming project I had coming up, and it worked fantastic. Yeah, sure, I could have just used a standard ethernet cable and a usb-to-ethernet adapter on my iPad, but I always feel like every extra connection is one more potential point of failure that I'd rather eliminate. This cable allows you to connect your USB-C device -- iPhone, iPad, tablet, computer -- directly to ethernet. I didn't run any throughput tests, but found this cable perfectly fine for delivering a spotless live stream. I didn't run into any glitches or drops. I also used the wired connection at home to copy some movie files from my Mac to my iPad with a third-party video player on the tablet. It wasn't as fast as with a direct USB-C connection to the Mac, but it worked, and it was at least a little faster than wifi. Overall, I'm pleased. The cable seems well constructed and likely to last a long time. ... show more

  • Initial hiccup, but works great now!
Size: 10ft
I got this to use with my Debian Linux Lenovo P1 Gen 6 laptop, and it works great. Initially when I tried to use it, it was not showing up at all on my system (running lsusb and dmesg). Nothing, nada. I tried several USB-C ports, and none worked. I tried connecting it to my phone, and it worked immediately - so it seems it wasn't an issue with the cable. A reboot of my machine corrected the issue - not sure what was wrong, but after reboot, lsusb reported it almost immediately upon connecting it, and NetworkManager configured it immediately, picking up a DHCP address and providing connection. A+ works really well. As some other reviewers noted, the end of the cable is unusually large, but not so large that it gets in the way of the other USB-C ports on my laptop. If two such of these large cables were tried to be plugged into the adjacent USB-C ports, then there would be troubles, however. With a standard sized USB-C plug and this oversized one, however, no issues are had. Do bear in mind though that the cable end is a bit large. My calipers measure it to be a little over 17mm wide, whereas the end of my Anker C300 webcam cable - which is of a more standard width - is a little over 12mm in width - so this cable end is 5mm oversize. See photo for size difference plugged into my laptop. As for speed - it reports as a gigabit ethernet adapter, and I don't see any slowdown in performance over my other gigabit USB-C network adapter, however my network connection maxes out right now at about 200MBit, so I haven't tested full gigabit. Still, for most folks, that should be enough, and I expect it performs even better than I can test. ... show more

  • Good, but could have been great
Size: 10ft
Upfront, my only complaint: the USB-C end is way too large. It prohibits me from using the other nearest usb-c plug at the same time. Otherwise, this is a very well-made cable that works as you would want it to. I got this for my macbook pro to connect to my router when we're having home internet problems. The router is in a utility room and not convenient to connect to. having this statically attached and ready to go saves some hassle when there's internet issues, and as we all know those are emergencies on the level of "overflowing toilet" in the 2020's. ... show more

  • Brilliant Idea!
Size: 10ft
I ordered this to try with my laptop to cut down on dongles. My ThinkPad Yoga has a built-in NIC, but it needs a breakout dongle because Lenovo wanted to make it as slim as possible (which I get, but it's still annoying!). This is a great solution to having to carry a dongle AND a cable, as the device does both! Pros: - Connectivity seems to be good, and the device shows up as a Realtek chipset, so no issues with drivers on Windows 11. - Cable has a very nice braided sleeve. I'm not sure how this will hold up long term in my use case (I'm hard on stuff like this!), but so far it still looks like new. - One dongle and one separate cable are now simply one cable! Yay! Cons: If you need a longer cable, you're out of luck. I may end up putting a small RJ-45 to RJ-45 coupler (or ever a coupler-style keystone that might be a bit higher quality) in the bottom of my bag in case I need it. This is available in longer lengths, but for travel that gets unwieldly very fast! - Braided cover may fray over time. So far though, it's holding up well. I'll update the review if that changes! Overall: I'm impressed with this cable so far, but only time will tell how it will hold up. I don't foresee any issues though at this point. I'll come back and update my review if that changes. ... show more
