    • Great product at a great vaule
I looked around for weeks at different options. I wanted a larger capacity crucible so I wouldn't have to deal with having to reheat for larger castings. This product has worked perfectly so far and is what I was looking for. The crucible is large and fits with enough room to get even heating. As a heads up, when finished with your casting, be sure to put the crucible back on top of the fire brick and put the lid back on or you will have an issue with cooling down too rapidly, which can result in a cracked fire brick where the crucible sits. A nice surprise was the updated connection to the base where the propane hose connects. There is a sleeve that runs parallel to the hose and pipe connection and the sleeve slides very easily to allow the desired airflow. This looks to be much more convenient than the previous design. The regulator and hose seem to be high quality and should last with proper care. All components look great for that matter. It was also very easy to setup. I will likely get, or make, a larger set of tongs to handle the crucible. The tongs measure 17" long and are just over 1/4 inch in diameter. The tongs do handle the load, but they apply a lot of pressure to a very small area of the side wall. When dealing with the intensity of a large crucible filled with moltin metal it's likely worth the upgrade. With that said, be sure to wear the proper safety equipment. This is a process you don't want to take lightly. You can burn through clothing and shoes in seconds and you need to be prepared with all the necessary safety precautions. Goldmembers accidental smelting accident makes a lot of sense after the first run. There's a moment when pouring the metal where you will likely process all kinds of possibilities. Do your homework.     • Great Unit! Large Capacity!
This is a great smelter. Easy to setup and super well made. Melts fast. I have the smaller one from the same company and this is well worth upgrading to. Gas hose is longer and regulator is much better. Now for the bad and really this is not too bad but they should really NOT include the flimsy tongs with this unit. I have pliers that are better than these things. I understand that the price would need to be much higher with proper tongs but I think including these cheap tongs is likely to get someone hurt. Throw them away! But a good set. Note: A good set will cost you about $100. To the vendor, I suggest including a good set of gloves instead of these flimsy tongs. I still give a 5-Star review as I knew what I was getting when I placed the order. ... show more

Haven’t had a chance to use it just yet because the refractory brick was cracked when it arrived. I reached out and Cast Masters sent a new one right away! I will leave more info after my first melt, but I am confident it will be a positive experience. Everything I have seen so far looks good, and their customer service is solid! ... show more

The unit is well built. The instructions didn’t describe my air flow system, but a question about it was quickly answered by the company. It seems the documentation didn’t catch up to the new design. The tongs seem undersized for a 10KG crucible. You’ll probably want to fabricate lifting and pouring tongs on your own. There are plenty of youtube videos describing the process. ... show more

    • Very hot and melts metal quickly
After using this furnace, I am very happy with its performance. I started melting metals with a small electric furnace and now I decided to move to propane to try to increase the volume I can melt. Now I can easily melt 3-4 times as much as I used to. This furnace can get very hot which allows you to melt a wide range of metals. With a temperature gun, I was getting temperatures over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and it performs better than expected. ... show more

Bought this to melt tons of steel and cast iron, the description is deceiving because it states gold, silver, Copper and scrap metal. I put steel bolts in for almost two hours and never got hot enough

    • Easy setup and use
There's not much to the setup and use. From the box I was burning in a matter of minutes. The tongs that come with this kit are not the greatest, I would suggest buying a better set.
