  • Great product
We needed to stop some heat in the attic and this worked well. It was not easy to put in our attic but we managed to do it. We needed 3 people to help hold the foil straight . The roll is heavy so we cut it in 13 feet increments. Depending on your attic setup this could be a breeze to put up. We immediately noticed a difference in temperature and are happy with the results. Would highly recommend this product. ... show more

  • Attic was like licking the toes of the Devil.
When the box arrived the weight kinda surprised me, wondering if someone had shipped me a load of rocks straight from the prison camps in China. Not the case though, the foil is surprisingly thick and really durable. At least durable enough to move around in the tight confines of my rather large attic spaces. It took a bit of planning with the old rubber noodle but it was easy enough to figure out when an idea came to mind. Don't install from the roll and cut smaller pieces off, duh, I almost embedded my knife into my skull as I slapped my forehead for not considering such an easy solution to the heavy roll of silver shiny foil. Needless to say, install this when it is cool or you will know what it is like to stand at the bottom of a waterfall perched on a 2x4 in the middle of summer. ... show more

  • Easier to handle than some of the other radiant shields
The material is stiffer than several other brands of similar insulation. That makes it much easier to install in a ranch house attic with a low roof line. I believe we have noticed a difference right away on hot sunny days. Not a huge difference, but a worthwhile difference. That makes me glad I installed it, and glad I installed it myself instead of paying thousands to have it installed. It cuts easily with good quality scissors. I had no problem with tearing. I did all the attic work without help, but my wife did help me to reduce the weight by re-rolling it into shorter sections (about 40 ft) to reduce the weight I had to drag around the attic. The product is very clean when it arrives so we set up re-rolling on a table in the house and wound it around foam swimming pool noodles. ... show more

  • Radiant Barrier
We are in the process of installing this product in the attic of our home in FL. We only have the attached garage done so far, and plan to do the entire attic. It's easier with two people to hold the pieces in place and staple them on the bottom side of the rafters leaving an air space from the soffit to the ridge vent for the heat to escape. It looks like perforated heavy duty tin foil with fiber running through it so it does not tear easily. The temperature does feel lower when I am under it vs. when I'm just under the roof decking. We won't know the full impact, if any, until we get the entire attic done. We can only work up there a few hours in the morning before it gets too hot outside, so it's going to take us awhile. ... show more

  • Pretty tough film.
I am using it for 2 purposes. The first is as a radiant barrier. The second is as a building wrap to restrict air penetration. Mine came as 48.5" which is more then th 48" advertised and that extra .5 inch helped whe my 1st story is 8' high. If this stuff came in 96" wide rolls, I would not have to seam it with aluminized tape in the middle. I do like the product and appears to be pretty dough and the aluminum seems to be protected from oxidation by a plastic film. ... show more

  • Works great in windows!
My house is all finished and well insulated. However, I have windows that let in solar radiation. No problem! I cut a piece of barrier membrane to fit the panes of glass and stick them up to keep the house nice and cool. If you have friends and relatives nearby that struggle with the sun, everybody chip in for a roll, pass it around and spread the energy-saving love. ... show more
