If you think over 22 bucks is too much to spend for a cup holder, think again. I bought this, because I have some kittens in the house that were jumping on my end table and knocking over my glass. Luckily, it was empty when it happened, but there was an accident just waiting to happen. I looked at se
veral products before choosing the deep version of this cup holder. There are cheaper options available, but I wanted a quality product that would last a long time. This cup holder fits the bill. It's well made and versatile. It's solid metal. There’s textured rubber padding on the bottom of the cup holder, both on the inside and outside. It’s also around the inside rim and on both sides of the clamp that pinch together. The clamp is high quality. The cup holder can separate from the clamp which is convenient for emptying out condensation and cleaning. It can be adjusted to 5 different positions to accommodate a mug handle. The paint is powder coated for durability. So, if you want a product that is going to be useful for many years, this is it. Or, you can buy one of the many plastic options for around half the price and then it ends up broken and in the trash within a couple of years. Take your pick.

I actually love this. It's made of metal and not cheap plastic. It has a cushion under the clamp so that it doesn't hurt your table and it can take the full weight of my 40oz metal cup with absolutely no issues. Would definitely recommend.

good cup holder for thicker desks - design needs a little work

As others have mentioned, this cup holder is held onto the clamp by 2 small holes that fit into 2 notches on the clamp. It's very easy to knock the whole thing off the clamp with a small upward force, with or without a cup in place. I decided to tape over the attachment bits so that they wouldn't mov
e. But now the cup holder is no longer adjustable (can't rotate it) without removing the tape. Otherwise it feels solid and is a very useful product.

I like the sturdy feel of metal for my heavy cups and mugs. This one is big enough to hold my largest ceramic mug, and the ability to rotate the holder so the mug handle is at a convenient angle is a definite advantage over other designs.
