  • Great product with great support
I didn’t notice I bought a unit preloaded with BMW software. (My mistake). The folks at Foxwell set my account to reload it with the Mercedes package at no cost. Unit worked to register a new battery and clear restraining system and other errors generated when installing new battery. Lesser OBD scanners did not have this capability. This unit reads your vehicle config and tests every circuit, component, and module you can imagine. ... show more

  • Don't waste your money!
Purchased January 2023. Battery life was never great despite being 4000mAh. I am just a car owner, not a professional/mechanic. This device has never gotten "severe" or regular use. Just used for occasional debug/CEL. I bought BMW license originally and then added the GM license for $80 in September of 2023. Now in March of 2025, just over 2 years later, this device is toast. My wife's Kia got a CEL today so I was preparing to go pay another $80 for a Hyundai/Kia license so I could diagnose & repair. I started it up, had 22% battery left and it drained to 1% in about 10 minutes and now it won't charge. Tried every possible combination of cable & charging source. So in 26 months I sunk about $350 I think? Worthless waste of money - especially with the BMW and GM license that are now stuck linked to this dead device. Will never buy another Foxwell product if they do not send me a new replacement with the licenses preloaded on the device. ... show more

  • Good customer support despite initial issues
UPDATE: I'm updating this review to reflect the positive support experience I have received from Foxwell with the initial issues I reported using the product, in particular the Ford software upgrade. While I had some initial hiccups, any company that stands behind it's products has my support and is more than I can say for many other manufacturers these days. 1) My feedback regarding navigating the software was taken into consideration and Foxwell promised improvements to the software to make it easier for DIYers and enthusiasts to navigate. 2) The NT710 was able to perform all the advertised service features for my BMW, but for some reason some supported features were unavailable for my 2016 Ford Transit Connect, like Brake Bleed. Foxwell has made a commitment to continue improving the Ford software, but after using the unit a few more days I'm happy to say that the BMW software delivers on all the service functions and advertised features for my 2019 BMW X3. I was able to modify all parameters in BMW CBS and diagnose an issue with KAFAS. Overall I'm really happy with the level of BMW features and hope to see this expand for other supported manufacturers. 3) The company apologized for the delayed responses due to time difference and weekend holidays, however all my emails were eventually responded to and an effort was made to understand the issues I was experiencing including uploading some data files for Foxwell to analyze for my Ford Transit. I think this would be a 5 start product with some polishing of the software and expanded support for other manufactures, but for the price point and level of customer support I think it was a decent purchase. I've decided to keep the unit and continue using it. PREVIOUS REVIEW: The positives: 1) The unit feels rugged and durable 2) The built in wifi update works well for getting the latest software version 3) The built in Shop allows you to unlock diagnostic for additional brands, like Ford, Toyota, etc. for an additional fee 4) Menus are easy to navigate on this touch-style Android tablet scanner The negatives: 1) The biggest flaw of this unit is the janky software. You CANNOT exit out of a service function once you select it. This is an unusual software design choice. Most scanners will have a "Cancel" and "OK" when you select a service function and give you the option to cancel or begin the procedure, but I was forced to turn the car off and unplug the unit every time I made a selection in the service menu. Makes it very difficult to explore the service options. 2) The NT710 features are heavily exaggerated by Foxwell as providing "OE" level service functions. You will likely NOT see the advertised service features for your car. It's possible that the features exist in some capacity for different car brands, but do not buy this unit expecting it to be "OE" dealer-style software that provides all the listed service functions for your car. It does not. 3) Support is bad. Foxwell pre-sales are very quick to respond to your questions, but after-sales is a different story. I sent two inquiries to clarify the features of the NT710 for my BMW and Ford and confirm ABS Brake Bleed is supported. Both emails were answered very quickly. After I received this BMW scanner and paid the extra $80 to unlock the Ford software I got ready to do the ABS Brake Bleed on my 2016 Ford Transit. I quickly realized there was no ABS Brake Bleed feature despite my earlier correspondence with Foxwell. As of the writing of this review, I have sent two separate support requests to clarify the discrepancy in the information I was provided and I haven't received a reply. ... show more

  • Works great with my BMW X5
I wasn't sure how well this device would perform given its low price, but I was happily proven wrong. This device works amazingly well, and you can't beat the price. Its speed, detail, and ease of use make it number one in my book.

  • it works
I bought the BMW preloaded and added Nissan to it. It was a little bit expensive, but I was able to determine the diver front wheel speed sensor was not working and found the wires almost broken at the connector. I replaced the connector for about $5 and was able to look at the live data on the NT710 to see as I spun each wheel it would display the speed of the wheel as it was turning. It was nice to see it working correctly before I finished the heat shrink on the connectors. It also cleared my airbag light and it has not returned. So far it has probably paid for itself in just those two repairs. Words of warning.... DO NOT loan it to anyone, you will probably never see it again. ... show more

  • Works
Android OS connects to your WiFi if for updates. Audible feedback when press buttons on screen. Battery doesn’t last long, uses USB C. Extremely confusing and noticeably slow to read my BMW codes. Was somehow able to recalibrate my steering and get rid of my traction control problem on my E85 z4. Unfortunately anytime I use this to clear codes, the car needs to be jump started immediately after as if it drains the battery just a little too much. I also noticed after identifying codes, there’s options that will pull up Google or YouTube searches of the code to streamline what the code could be. Came with a hard case. Can I say it was worth the price? As of right now, no. I’ll definitely need more time with it as it’s a steep learning curve with a janky Ui. ... show more
