  • Worked really well
Color: Black-8-LED
I was on the fence as to purchase this model, reviews were split on it. I purchased it and installed it, providing more than ample amount of visibility for my ring cameras. It lit well over 50 feet behind my house covering the shed, green house and area where my wife has her mini farm . The directions said not to keep it exposed to direct rain. So I had it under the section where rain gutters were attached, behind the cameras. I ordered a spare one not expecting it to last, well that was 2 years ago. It worked 2years almost to the day. I haven’t confirmed if it’s the power supply or light that went bad . It just flashes on/off. This light far surpassed what I expected for its price and ease of setting up. I just installed the spare and am ordering a spare this week. When it got dark it lit my back yard very well. Able to see all sorts of creatures passing through down to mice size . It worked well in the NY freezing temps too. I usually don’t do reviews but this product deserves a review. The amount of area it lights far surpasses the ring light which I don’t bother to use anymore . Based on this performance I highly recommend this unit . Price is good and apparently it lasts a long time. ... show more

  • It's OK, with some caveats..
This thing is a blow torch. Be aware that it is NOT a flood light at all, it is a freaking laser beam from hell. But that's not what I want. I want a flood light. I'll get to that in a minute, I want to talk about the build quality first. It's cheaply made. The bracket is flimsy. The shell is thin and flimsy and is distorted. Where they screwed the halves together it's way too tight and makes the shell warp between the screws so that the gasket doesn't have even pressure on it all the way around. Very sloppy. Before I put it up outside I am going to loosen the screws so the shell is applying even pressure on the gasket all the way around. Oh, and the screws are those very cheaply plated type that look pretty and shiny for about a week. Expect them to rust very quickly. I think I shall dab some paint on them to delay the inevitable rusting. The soldering inside is poor. They left flux on the board. It won't really ruin it but it's just lazy, cheap and sloppy. Obviously quality control is not on their agenda. The mounting bracket is cheap and flimsy. Yes, you have to remove it to attach it to the house (or whatever) then put the light back on it but that's going to be for any such thing. That's not my complaint, my complaint is that it's cheap, low grade metal and it was bent and distorted out of the box. Again, no quality control at all. No pride in workmanship. The cord is far too short and should have come with a weather boot to keep out water once connected. I'm going to put a glob of silicone grease in the connector first, that will keep out water and oxygen so it won't rust/corrode, etc.. The power cord coming out of the shell, that's poorly made, it's loose as a goose and not only can water get in, bugs can get in too. Expect spiders and small insects to roost inside. Best thing to do is put a glob of caulking into it so nothing can get inside. These are all things that can be dealt with and overcome with a few minutes effort before you put it up outside. But now on to what's really important. Before I install It I wanted to test it because I had read other people claiming it was a spot light and not a flood light so it I just stood in the window and watched on camera as I held the light in my hand and aimed it about the yard and neighborhood. It put a bright spot on houses hundreds of feet away. Easily 200 to 250 feet away houses lit up and I could see a sharp, clear image. What had been in the dark now shows up sharp and clear. But I'm not really wanting to see the neighbor's house across the street, I want to have my own yard and the street right in front of my house brightly illuminated. When I shine it in my yard the beam is so tightly focused that it put a bright, bright light concentrated in one spot and it was so bright that the cameras with their auto brightness and auto contrast and all their other automatic, unadjustable settings adjust themselves accordingly and everything else outside of the spot is blacked out. That's WORSE than using the lights built into the cameras! So the first thing that came to mind is that this needs a diffuser. My dad has a sand blaster box that he's used to make etched, frosted drinking glasses. Well, that's a bit messy and I didn't want to run the air compressor at 2am so I thought that before I commit to permanently altering the glass I should try something else. So I got some parchment paper from the kitchen. I removed the bezel and glass and laid the glass on the parchment paper to trace it. I cut out a piece to fit then put the glass back in (mind the gasket!) and trapped the paper on the outside of the glass but behind the bezel. The bezel holds the paper flat against the glass and now I have a diffuser. This is for testing though, I can't try it now because it's already getting light outside so I'll have to test it tonight, I'll add pictures later of before (camera with it's internal lights only) then of the other light (I bought two) without a diffuser and then last, one of the lights with the diffuser in place. Parchment paper for cooking is heat and water proof and I could probably leave it up permanently but I may either sandblast the glass to frost it or I can use a glass etching/frosting kit that I also have. Overall, it's a decent light that has a lot of trivial issues that are easy enough to deal with. It's NOT a flood light so you have to modify it to become one. I suppose if you have a very large yard and want to see things hundreds of feet away then this is the thing you want. But if you want to illuminate a small area it's way too bright and the extremely bright spot it creates will mess with the auto contrast and backlight of your camera and actually make it harder to see things outside of that extremely bright spot. And if someone walks into the spot they will glow so brightly that you can't see anything but a bright white blob, their features are completely washed out. If they would have paid more attention to QUALITY CONTROL I would have given it another star. If it were more diffuse and not such an intense, focused spot light I would give it another star as well. It's OK but in my opinion a bit over priced. For the issues I would have been completely satisfied if it had bene $20 instead of $30. Photos attached. (Photos of the end results of the diffuser modification coming tomorrow) edit: two photos added of light with home made diffuser installed. First night picture is what the camera sees (via my iPhone app) when using only the camera and it's internal IR lights. The next picture is what it sees when adding in the modified light. It's hard to tell in the photos but when watching the live view which is much sharper than the recording or the streamed video to my phone, it's much clearer, much sharper, far less grain. The "dancing pixels" go away and seem to stop and vanish. It really makes a difference. I think I'm going to try for a thinner diffuser or maybe even frost or etch the glass so it lets more light through but prevents it from focusing into a beam like it does by default design. Lastly is a picture of one of the cameras I'm using. It's an iBall IB-6025-36. It's an old camera but it was given to me free so the price was right. ... show more

  • Does the job however, the light is concentrated in one area
Color: Grey-6-LED
The Univivi 6 LED IR illuminator provided enhanced night vision visibility to my Lorex PTZ LLNZ32P4. It is a great improvement from what used to be near pitch-black to now usable video surveillance night vision capability. The only thing that I could say is a con is that the light is focused on a centrally lit area leaving the sides with zero illumination. I have read about complaints where this starts to develop blinking issues in about 8 months to a year and some waterproofing issues. To mitigate this issue, I have proactively added some precautionary fail-safe such as plugging my illuminator into a smart switch that will completely power it off on a schedule during the day. I also applied a silicon seal on the mating surfaces of the illuminator to make it 100% weather/waterproof. I will come back to this review to update after a year. ... show more

So I've found 3 ways to utilize this tool. 1. Outside of the Camera field of view and in the same area as the camera it'll light up EVERYTHING in night vision mode on your camera but where the IRI is will be very bright. 2. Outside of the camera field of view and mounted inside the house behind a window. it'll light up EVERYTYHING in night vision mode with no very bright area. 3. Inside the camera FOV results were not to my liking. but see for youself. I have before and after pictures of Before IRI Use case 1 Use case 2 ... show more

  • Excellent customer service
Color: Black-8-LED
This is my second flood light. The first one lasted several years, outside. It was great, but a rat chewed the cord. The second one didn’t even make it 6 months indoors. No visible damage, it just died. It’s too bad, because it worked great while it worked. Edit: The seller reached out to me to offer a replacement. I appreciate a company that stands behind their products! ... show more
