2/6/20 - Battery life is great, as expected. It takes great pictures. Good performance, though I notice a bit of lag when playing 8 Ball Pool, not a big gamer so can't really comment on that. Beautiful display. Feels good and solid in my hand. There seems to be an issue with the sound on this phone. It's not anywhere near as easy to adjust the volume level on various sounds as it was on phones I've had in the past. In addition, it occasionally loses all sound even though the volume sliders at all wide open. One workaround I found for this is to open Google Chrome with Google as the home page, hit the search bar and then hit the voice command icon in the search bar. This seems to "wake up" the sound and everything works again. Must be a software bug, I hope they'll fix it in an update. Overall, nice phone but be prepared for a few quirks. 2-9-20 - This sound issue is annoying. Love the phone but it will be going back if this issue isn't fixed soon. 2-11-20 - I've been in contact with tech support and assured that a fix is in the works for the sound issue. It gets one star until the fix is in. You've got until March 1st, then it goes back. I'm going to be really sad if I have to send it back, it's an awesome phone other than the sound issue. 2-12-20 - Tech support sent me an email and told me to return the phone, saying it's a hardware issue. I'm bummed. It's a great phone, but not much good with the intermittent sound issue. 2-15-20 - Received new phone, working great. 5 stars. 3/20/20 - Back down to 2 stars. Buggy. Sound still doesn't work at times for some apps (Google Maps in particular), seems to be a software problem. Video capture is choppy. I think I'd shy away from this phone if I had it to do over again. 4-8-20 Latest update seemed to fix all the aforementioned bugs. Works good now. ... show more

    • Great hardware plagued by terrible WiFi issues and lack of software support
[Update: 4/30/21] WiFi connection issue is still happening many times per day. There has been one software update but it did not fix anything. [Update: 1/9/21] WiFi constantly loses internet access at random intervals while starting connected to the access point. Happens everywhere. Even when switching to "use device MAC" from randomized. No software updates since I got it. I don't have a lot of hope for this. Fingerprint reader is still trash. It seems to 'lose' my fingerprint every few weeks. One tip if you have this is to put in a single finger as 2 or 3 different ones to increase the likelihood of it recognizing one. I do NOT recommend this any more. Original review: I switched from a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 which apparently supports 2 US 4G bands, while this phone supports 16. I had not heard of UMIDIGI before, but took a chance after watching some reviews. Pros: The phone feels very premium. The screen is beautiful and vibrant. I like not having the notch/holepunch. I don't game on my phone, but it is very fast for my uses. IMO the camera(s) are perfectly adequate. Probably aren't Samsung flagship tier, but a huge upgrade from any phone camera I've used before. Comes with a decent case (rubber, rough texture) Dual SIM / SIM+microsd tray. Supports crazy number of wireless bands Bootloader is unlockable in settings (have not tried this) Huge RAM and storage for the price Cons: I'll also address some things that some people mention, but aren't a problem for me. Pop up camera isn't super fast. It takes about 2 seconds to open once it starts moving. I personally never take selfies, so I don't ever intend on using it. Speaker isn't amazing, but it's adequate. I personally use headphones always, so whatever. Also no headphone jack, but comes with a USB-C adapter. Fingerprint sensor is optical (through the screen), and frankly is pretty bad compared to capacitive sensors. With my old Xiaomi phones, I was surprised when the fingerprint sensor didn't work. With this phone, I am surprised if it does work. It takes some practice. I hope there is some software tweak to make this better in the future. AMOLED support is a bit lacking. No out of the box ambient display. Granted this is something Android has chosen for some reason. I use a 3rd party always on app. Default setting is to wake the screen when you pick up the phone. There is also no option to wake on double tap (I really miss this). (My always on app lets me do this though) Software is a bit odd. Claims to run stock Android, but actually is a slightly modified ROM. Comes with no bloat, but has some modified system apps (different skin for clock/calc, etc). Lacks some system settings that I've come to expect. Hardware: 9.5/10 Software: 6.5/10 Overall: 8/10 Would definitely recommend if the cons don't bother you. Having had the phone for a week it's safe to say Umidigi has a winner here. For comparison I've owned the original Power and F2. The Power was terrible and the F2 UI was lacking, and it's camera was terrible. I've also owned several more high end phones to compare this too also. Anyway, the phone is well built, very nice looking (mine is the green the back is like a Matte finish and doesn't pick up fingerprints hardly at all), coverage (It gets Volte, I'm using it on T-Mobile) is very good and voice calls have great quality. With NFC, Android 10, it is a great buy in my opinion. The sound is loud enough, but nothing impressive. Battery endurance is the best in the business (I use my phone hard and get 10-13 hours SOT). Screen is plenty bright also. I'm not going to list all the good positive's because they're easy to find. Issues you will likely have is the sound may cut out (mine did this) but turn off OK Google and it will fix it. The phone is thick and what I would consider heavier than your avarage phone. The camera is adequate (no front portrait mode like other Umidigi phones) but if you play with the settings it gets the job done. The Power 3's version of Android 10 does not play nice with other launchers (it messes with the Navigation Bar). The version of Android 10 on the Power 3 is NOT stock android as others have said. Umidigi has it's own launcher, dialer, and contacts apps although they appear to be stock android apps. I downloaded google contacts and another dialer and they work fine. Storage is enough and expandable. I listed these issues just so you are aware before you buy this phone. I still highly recommend the phone because the issues listed are minimal and can easily be fixed. It's a great buy for the money.
