Fairly easy to install if you are handy. Instructions could have better images and larger print. 1. Remove diffuser lens 2. Remove two end screws 3. Separate the unit in its two halves 4. Mark the cut out holes, drill, screw base unit into place 5. Route wires, apply wire nuts and snap in other half 6 Replace diffuser lens. I like the three different color settings, and dimming actually works! The old LED fixture I replaced stated it was dimmable, but it wasn't. The power leads had funky connectors on their ends and weren't long enough. I used some old 2 + ground wire to extend the wires out of the hole punch-out. The manufacturer should address this. There should be plenty of excess wire to hang outside of the unit no matter which hole punchout you have to use for your installation situation. Your unit should be controlled by a light switch or rheostat. So long as this switch is off, you should not have to shut of your power or the affected circuit for installation. My wife needed a bright white (5000k) light above her hobby workstation. This light is made for hardwired installation but it was simple enough to rewire it for a 3-wire wall plug. Works beautifully. Just what she needed and not very expensive.

12-inch Version: I love the 3 color temperature options. The 12 inch version does not offer the low-high brightness option - but the longer versions do. I wish this one had that because sometimes I prefer less brightness. I do not want to add an external dimmer. In terms of installation, the overall design is convenient but the the light housing is so small, there isn't enough room in the chamber to easily fit all the wires & connectors. It was a struggle to get them to fit & close up the unit. Overall I like the light & bought 4 of them to replace & add to my kitchen. If it had the Hi-Low brightness option, it would have been 5 stars all the way. ... show more

Most of the 1 star reviews for these lights mention how hard they are to install. This is because there is not much space between the frame and the light bar and as they are screwed together the wires bulge out the sides. The trick is to tape down the built in wires before connecting them to the house wires. It might also help to stagger the connectors. I have both the 24" and 36" hardwired lights in my kitchen. Hopefully they will last a long time. I am putting a couple extras in my shop as backups. ... show more

These are perfect under counter lights with the ability to change the color with the the external switch. Notice several complaints about the wiring area. The quick fixtures is cut the zippered tie, use the center knockout and there is plenty of space. Second complaint I read was the short screws , when installing small screws take a piece of tape and wrap around screw bit and the head of the screw. This is an old remedy used by me, a professional electrican for 50 plus years. These are easy fixtures to install and are definitely professional grade not found the b8g box stores. ... show more

Anyone who can't figure out how to disassemble / assemble this unit should probably stay away from doing their own electrical - just sayin' Easy swap for the dead fluro tube lighting under my kitchen cabinet. Same style and construction, but LED and nice push fit plugs rather than old twist-fit cable nuts. Took 15 mins - was easy to do - looks great. The fluorescent light over my kitchen sink went out so I decided to switch to LED. It is directly wired to a wall switch and is left on most of the day for several months w with no issues. The three color options are nice and look better than the CFL lights.
