There are others made of metal as well or a combination of metal and plastic, but this is all metal and reinforced very well. If you’re familiar with the chrome baker’s rack type of shelving, this is the same style. This type of shelving I’ve noticed (as well as the baker’s rack type, too) comes in different pole circumferences. This one is about in the middle, it’s not overly thick, but not thin either. I think it’s a fitting size for a garment rack. It’s pretty simple to build, it comes with everything you need and good instructions with diagrams. What I like about these (besides how sturdy and durable they are) is the ability to customize it the way that suits your needs best–and–to rebuild it if your needs change in the future. I needed it for the many long dresses I’d been acquiring lately so I omitted the two lower bars to accommodate long dresses hanging from the top bars. I like that they include hardware to adhere to the wall if you wanted to (as well as a few extra clips just in case). I did not use it, I personally didn’t see a need for it, but it’s a nice option. I also like that this rack has flat shelving both on the bottom and above the bars. I use it to store my shoes. I am very pleased with this garment rack and definitely can say it should last many years to come in regard to both durability and versatility.     • Some mystery assembly required
The nit itself seems good. I did find the assembly manual to be poorly written. If not for the YouTube video I was a bit unsure of how to proceed. I would suggest that Zulia hires someone unfamiliar with the product to assemble the unit. I’m sure there will improvements. For instance there is a reference to figures 1-3, but no figure has a number, go figure. The video also indicates using a hammer, but no such reference in the manual. ... show more

FYI: While it's marketed as a free-standing apparel shelf unit, it works just as well for the interior of a closet. We used ours in a sliding door closet space. WINS: It's very strong, and looks nice, even a bit upscale, for what it is. FAILS: Some may find it not easy to assemble. I'd recommend at least one helper! FINAL GRADE: A- ... show more

The instructions are missing steps and has made this very difficult to assemble. Some of the pieces broke during assembly and I may have to return this product.

Great clothing rack and shelves. I got to use in my granddaughter’s rooms and it works perfectly. Plenty of space to hold a lot of items. It was easy to assemble and is sturdy. I love that’s it’s adjustable and that it’s free standing. It’s well made, durable. And a great value.

These shelves are so attractive. They can definitely be used as pictured, but they way they are able to be assembled, you can do different things with them. I don't have room for the center shelf and I need it somewhat shorter, and this is perfect! It's super easy to adjust and looks VERY nice when it's assembled. I am putting boards on the shelves and the wood looks very attractive on there. The whole assembly is nice and sturdy and very easy to put together. You will NOT be disappointed at all if you get these. I wish the whole thing fit into my closet as-is, but this still works for what I need it for. I am so super happy with it. ... show more
