  • Toy drone with a job
When sitting in our living room we watch little songbirds at our backyard feeder. We started having problems with squirrels and grackles dominating the feeder--but the squirrels jump out of their fur when they see this drone coming, fleeing way before they feel the propwash. Maybe they think it's an outsized, red, humming hornet--coming their way. If you've never used a drone before and your drone is delivered slightly off-trim--which may be more likely than not--good luck deciphering the documentation. Critical parts of the manual are written confusingly, badly: Never being able to sort out the ambiguous verbiage, it took me a full week of guessing what they'd MEANT to say before I was successful applying the trim functions. As an example of how just the function for left-right trim could be rewritten: "If drone--when allowed to hover geostationary--instead drifts, e.g. rightward, press the left controller stick inward (in the direction you'd push if you meant to put the stick inside the controller) until you feel resistance--then, move the right stick leftward. "The controller will beep x number of times: "One beep probably means you've adjusted trim MINimum leftward (manual doesn't describe the beeping); "more beeps mean you've adjusted trim more or possibly MAXimum leftward. "The other trim functions can be applied similarly for drift leftward, forward, and backward. For leftward and rightward rotation, apply the above instructions--but both functions are executed with the same left-hand stick." "Trim adjustments do not persist after the drone is powered off." Outside, even trimmed to the best of the functions' tolerance, the poor little guy goes all over the place if wind is more than about 5 mph. In calm conditions it can reach the grackles and squirrels across the lawn--although each session, when the battery gets near its last breath, finally about that last minute the drone can't respond against even a gentle breeze. Mine lasts 8 minutes of actual flying time, or half an hour awaiting the call to go buzz a squirrel. I've found I control the drone gracefully in slow mode indoors. But for outdoors--where I've also run it a lot--I think I need to make sure I stay in fast mode, because in any wind I think I need max acceleration. From seeing a guy fly his drone around at work, I'd say propeller breakage from smashing into walls is one likely turn-to-junk scenario for the drone: It needs two of each kind of propeller--so don't get down to just one of either. Manual basically says find yourself a local connection for parts. But the most likely end: The manual does not describe replacing the battery. To me that means: If the battery goes, you're on your own--how sucky of UDI ! The manual does say it's a lipo battery--I've read that most lipo batteries do not last beyond 300 charge cycles. I haven't looked inside to see whether the cell unplugs or if I have to tear it out and resolder a new cell--but since it's not in the manual, I assume UDI happily washes their hands of the matter of your depreciated-to-death-after-300-charges-toy--so I'm dropping the rating all the way from five stars, to poo-poo. ... show more

  • Great beginner drone, doesn't last long
I bought this for my 6 yr old son who is in love with these drones. It was his first one and he did attempt to take care of it (keeping it put away in the box, charging the battery as needed) and I was very proud of him. The battery life of this drone does not last long at all. The drone also did not last more than a month. I believe the drones battery died in use and it hit the ground hard. Afterwards, the drone would not life off the ground anymore. I tried changing the spinny things and making sure it was charged and clean and it would not lift off again. It was nice while it lasted and my son did enjoy it. ... show more

  • Nice little drone!
Worked real good, did bust a blade and took a few minutes to realize the blades are labeled and have to be in the right place to work correctly. I would recommend for younger kids, mine was 7 and he enjoyed it..

  • Great Indoor Drone
I've never owned a drone, but didn't want to spend a ton of money for a full sized one I would maybe use once a week if I was lucky. I've flown a few really nice ones and wanted to have one nevertheless. Overall this is actually a great mini drone. Ot fits in the palm of your hand and handles really well. I can fly it through our house at a pretty high speed and it handles all of it . Granted, I slammed it into a wall my second flight, but that was user error and it still looks and flys well. I did take it outside on a day with a small breeze, but it couldnt fly into it. I had to land it to retrieve it. This is an I door drone tho so I will not fault it. If you never had one and want to attach a string to it and drive your pets nuts this is definitely for you. I dont think I could have found a better one for what I wanted, which was to goof around with inside when I'm bored. ... show more

  • Great value, tough, easy to fly for beginner
I bought one each for my two Nephews, 8 & 12 years old. They were very happy with their gifts ($25 limit), and immediately found chargers to plug them in. Initial quality was about what I expected, seemingly good for the price. After an initial charge, both boys were quickly flying them around the living room and kitchen without hitting any walls, furniture, and family members. A lot of hard crashes on the first couple attempts by everyone, but both held up well with no damage. Would recommend, especially for the price. I’ve owned multiple in this price range, and this has been the nicest. ... show more

  • Good flyers indoors.
These were gifts for grandson's. Takes a while for them to respond or sync with controler. But they had them flying in no time. Only took a few tries and they were zooming all around the house. Boys are ages 6 and 8.

  • A good little drone
The battery life on the drine is okay, it is a micro drone so don't expect much. Mine lasted for about 6 and a half minutes when it finally went to the ground and stopped. In my opinion of your looking for a micro drone get one that has changeable batteries that way you don't have to weight for the drone to charge up. ... show more
