  • As Sturdy as the Original Lincoln Logs at a Lower Price
I wanted to buy original "name brand" Lincoln Logs for my 5 year old, but after reading so many bad reviews from people complaining about the price compared to the volume of logs you receive, I decided to look into other brands - which is how I ended up buying these Tumble Tree Timbers. I can't tell a difference in quality between these logs and the name brand ones. They have the same fun, classic feel and are just as sturdy. My son was very excited to receive them and we've had hours of fun together playing with them. This is a great gift idea if you are a parent who wants for your kid to play with something other than a video game. And I can tell you from experience that accidentally stepping on these logs does not hurt anywhere near as bad as stepping on a rogue Lego block! Not that it is the fault of the product itself, but my dogs also love these logs - so we have to be careful to clean them up thoroughly when we are done playing so that they don't become doggie chew toys. If you've got the money for the name brand Lincoln Logs, you can certainly spend it. But why would you toss money down the drain? These Tumble Tree Timbers are just as good quality at a lower price. ... show more

  • Exactly as described
It's a great value for the money, almost exactly like the real Lincoln logs. Everything came as described. My only issue is the logs are not shaved down to fit snug against each other like the real ones, not a big deal, still built a cabin 3 feet high.

  • Excellent quality.
I've never bought Lincoln Logs so I can't compare but these Tumble Tree logs are FANTASTIC. My 3yo loves them. I didn't realize how hard it would be to start learning how to build anything other than a basic square structure! I am really enjoying these myself because it makes my brain work a little harder and that's good for my mind and soul. ;) I think I enjoy building villages more than my daughter does -- but I suspect this will be a well-loved toy for YEARS and years. I do wish there were more longer logs and less small connectors. I keep two sets of these in three plastic tubs -- one for connectors, one for roof supplies and one for logs. The connector box is COMPLETELY full -- I just don't see a need for that many. I think it is more of a filler. But still great quality. ... show more

  • 327 "single" pieces
Pieces fit together well. There are a LOT of single pieces. Here is the breakdown according to the pamphlet that came in the box: Roof supports - 10 pcs Roof slats 5.75" - 32 pcs Roof slats 7.75" - 6 pcs Chimney - 4 pcs Timber #1 - 327 pcs Timber #3 - 31 pcs Timber #4 - 9 pcs Timber #5 - 17 pcs Timber #8 - 4 pcs Roof holder - 10 pcs There was a faint smell of wood stain when we opened the package. It dissipated quickly. Overall this is probably a decent set for the price. From what research I did on other brands it seems that they all include a lot of #1 pieces. Also, they all seem to be made in China and this set is no exception. ... show more

  • great but not perfect
I purchased these after discovering that the original Lincoln Logs are made in China and utilize plastic roof units instead of the wooden slats like they originally did. Those slats are one of my sons favorite things to create with. Maxims product is more like the old school Lincoln logs, HOWEVER...there is a wayyyy to many of the tiny logs. Most of the set is made up of these single logs. There were not enough of the long ones and gable ends for the roof have no lip to stop the slats from sliding off. Still better than paying 4x as much and getting the now inferior Lincoln Logs product. ... show more

  • Comparable to popular log building sets
Wow! This is a very large set! We had the vintage log set and these were comparable to the older set. Very nice finish and add on pieces. Great value for this size set.

  • Great value for the price
I ordered these for my Lincoln Log loving 4.5 year old. Not sure if these will be compatible with the name brand set, but this was a super heavy box that was stuffed to the brim with lots of pieces. They seems sturdy and well constructed, and my son has really enjoyed playing with them. There are a lot of small logs, but with Lincoln Logs the box is half empty when you get them... so I guess you can pick your evil. I like that this set includes the roofs and cute chimneys. There are enough pieces to construct several buildings, you'd need quite a few LL sets at a higher price to match up with this one. Happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Better than the household name brand
450 pieces but it seems like 250 are the 'bricks'. There are a total of seven three notch pieces and two flat bottom with three notches (about 9" long). There is nothing bigger. Don't be fooled by the picture. There is enough material to build one of the structures pictured. On the plus side the gable ends and the roof pieces are actually wood instead of plastic like some brands I could name. I gave the set to my grandson. I brought home a couple of pieces so I could get the dimensions and will buy some doweling to make more useful pieces. The mfg should let a person order individual pieces. This did not meet my expectations and the reason is the poor assortment. ... show more
