  • Absolutely brilliant lens, and one of the best value primes around
Style: Canon R mount
What a gem of a lens. I've used an absolute ton of 50mm lenses over the years, and this one strikes a wonderful balance of quality vs character, all housed in a solid metal body with excellent haptics. The lens is reasonably sharp wide open and very sharp to the corners stopped down, and produces stellar bokeh in the 0.5-3.0m range. Bokeh and sharpness wide open fall off a bit beyond 3m, but stopped down at any focus distance yields excellent image quality. The lens is reminiscent of the Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 at 1/4 the price. ... show more

  • Do not buy, period.
Style: Leica M mount
If you’ve ended up here because of all of the internet hype from “influencers” saying that this is a $4k lens for the 1/10 of the price please stop right now. This is a bargain leica lens because of bargain quality and bargain company behind it, you’re not getting a gigantic deal here, you’re paying full $369 price for a subpar product. - the lens is extremely heavy - the lens is much longer than the leica 50 - the lens flares into the sun and completely washes out - the lens flares if there’s any sun remotely anywhere - the lens doesn’t focus correctly - If you’re a film user you will pretty much never calibrate this thing correctly - if you’re a digital user you will be futzing with it forever to get the focus to work, and you will still have all of the issues that I mention. - ttartisan support is abhorrent, on their website they state that if you don’t return within 5 days the whole process is non refundable, if you want to dabble in this lens at least buy it only through Amazon so you can return it. Consider all of the above and then if you are looking for a “bargain Leica lens alternative” add $100 and buy yourself a Nokton and never look back. ... show more

  • Incredible for the price!
Style: Leica M mount
Very impressed with this lens, especially considering the price. It has a lot of chromatic aberration and some odd flaring wide open(flaring only shows up in low light with point light sources), but that cleans up quickly and the CA isn't bright magenta all the time, it's sometimes yellow-green which is much more pleasing and subtle. There's a lot of focus breathing as well, but that's not really an issue for rangefinder photography. It also requires the user to calibrate when you first get it, but the instructions were easy to follow and it took about 5 minutes(I'd recommend using a digital rangefinder for this as it's significantly easier). Highly recommended for M-Mount shooters on a 'budget'. I've included a few photos with this lens taken on my M240. ... show more

  • The most affordable 50 mm f. 1.4 lens for a Leica M
Style: Leica M mount
First I thought, for the price I am not taking a great risk. Then the lens arrived and I tested it: it is very sharp. At full aperture (f. 1.4) the vignetting and definition are more than acceptable in the corners. It is solidly built (metal), very familiar in aspect for Leica users, I bet it is far better that any 50 mm Summilux pre-asperical. Built with 10 lenses one of which is aspherical in 8 groups. Probably more fringing (but I use it mostly for BW photography) and flare when a light source is in the field of view than the latest Summilux 50 mm FLE, but still... if you want to travel or take photograph in bad weather, it is a lens worth considering without a second thought. ... show more

  • Amazing Lens
Style: Leica M mount
I was apprehensive about buying this lens. The cost is great, but I was concerned about having to calibrate it. Eventually I gave it a shot and my lens did not need any calibration, thankfully. It’s a heavy, long’ish lens but the picture quality is very good. I use it on my Leica M10 and couldn’t be more satisfied. I love the wide f1.4 aperture and shallow depth of field you can achieve. I don’t see any downside to this lens and highly recommend it. I will be trying other from TTArtisan. ... show more

  • Very sharp even wide open
Style: Leica M mount
I was using this lens on a Leica M-D typ 262 body and was quite pleased with the results. If you've dealt with rangefinder cameras, you'll appreciate that it comes with a tool for micro-adjusting focus to align with what your rangefinder patch shows. Very nice.

  • Budget 50mm Lens With Good Low Light Performance
Style: L mount
Pros: Sharpness similar to the Panasonic kit lens. Solid construction. Good low light performance. Pleasant bokeh. Cons: The unit I have suffers from vignetting. This can be improved with image editing software, however I leave the effect in low light portraits as it creates a pleasing result. Bottom-line: I use this lens for photo and video shooting in lower light situations with good results. I find it useful for low light portraits. This lens can produce nice bokeh in images. This lens is a good value for the capabilities it delivers. ... show more
