You must check the clamp before you can trust its hold. Tug it and ensure that the teeth are digging into the strap. Just releasing the clamp onto correctly-fed strap definitely is not reliable because sometimes you can pull it and it will just slide on through. If the clam fully rotates and the teeth dig into the strap then it will be good. If not then just help the clamp to fully rotate and push into the strap and re-test. That has always worked for me. Just a safety recommendation, not a product problem: After you pull it snug around tree, set the clamp and verify it, pull it with a lot of force because in my experience you always get over a half inch of slack when you do this (probably depends on tree with and bark type). If you have slack like that then the strap could be 100% fastened and the whole loop could slide down the tree. This isn't an issue if there is something else stopping it from sliding down, such as a branch, downward-widening trunk, a spike, etc. Most importantly, I pulled on this with a ratchet puller rated for 2,000 lb. static weight. As you can see in the photo, this strap breakage rating of 5070 lb. apparently ignores the sewing as a point of possible failure-- and it fails before the ratchet puller and even before the provided 1780 lb.-rated carabiner. (Ratchet puller I used is a strap type Maasdam Pow'R Pull). ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is exactly what I expected from a safety strap. Many people have said that they have use this tree strap for climbing a tree… ET see. However, I bought this to secure on a tree to hang up a Hamic. I have another one on the other side as well. These are super strong and can hold even the heaviest person in the Hamic. Awesome for backyards, parks, camping… Just about anywhere that you would like to hang a hammock and have it stay put. Its thick and strong & the webbing is solid. The loop is really sturdy & The clamp is easy to use and very quiet. Awesome tree strap… Very versatile and has so many different uses! Definitely recommend it! Overall this is a great safety strap. It looks good and there is plenty of strap to wrap even some very thick trees. Its an excellent item to have if your hunting or just climbing and want a safe way to get a view. Its very quiet so setting up in the forest for a hunt will be great. Overall its a solid product ... show more
