based on the negative reviews of this device, I believe most of those people are confused as to what this hydrometer is actually used for. The complaint that it just drops to the bottom of the bottle means that you have zero water in your mash product and that is because this hydrometer is used for the mash BEFORE distillation, not after to find 0 to 200 proof point. If you are making a mash, meaning during the fermenting phase, and you need to know the ABV "before" distillation, this is the tool you need to use; However, AFTER you have distilled your liquid "mash", you need to use ANOTHER hydrometer, Alcohol Meter Test kit 0 to 200 proof, which you can find one of those at the link below; you will notice how different they both appear. For example, using THIS hydrometer in the mash before distillation and you have, say an 8 ABV, then you can assume your DISTILLED product will be around 130 proof. to verify that, you will need to use the 0 - 200 proof hydrometer on the distilled product. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0B1MMVRMS?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details good luck to all! ... show more

Pretty upsetting when I opened the package. One of the hydrometers was broken. But the other one seems to work fine. All in all I am satisfied but wish I would have gotten the spare hydrometer just in case this one gets broken. But it was worth the money. Great deal!
