  • Works very well, NOT A POP UP it takes time and practice to set up
When you take it out of the bag at first it is a bit of a head scratcher. Some practice with the instructions will yield a eureka moment and after that you have it. But still if you are anticipating rain or the need for shade I would set it up from the get go as it takes time and is noisy. The design is meant to fit the curvature of the tree, which is nice, but water will still run down the trunk. It's actual quite big and that's a plus especially for keeping your bow or barrel dry on a long soaking rain. Pretty stable in light wind I can't speak to strong wind, but then I rarely hunt in those conditions except for boar. If is rated at 50+ UPF but as I don't hunt in my bathing suit I doubt that matters much but at least it's there if you need it. At $23.99 it makes a nice lightweight addition to my equipment bag, I RECOMMEND ... show more

  • Decent umbrella, installation is a bit involved
I got this and actually had a chance to try it out on a recent bear hunt in Canada. My overall impression is that is worked fairly well (compared to no umbrella), but is not a "quick" install in the respect that you pop it open and it's ready to go. Out of the package there are some straps which seem rather random until you look at it. In the field, this is something where you are going to be moving around for 5 minutes or so to get it installed on a tree, so don't expect to go out in the woods, just open it up and sit. Once I had this open and installed it worked pretty well, particularly when the rain wasn't super heavy or with lots of wind. Most of the day I used it the weather was misty and sprinkling, but I did have a few moments of heavier (but not intense) rainfall. For the lighter rain it worked great and helped keep my bow pretty dry; in the heavy rain it definitely helped and was great for keeping most of the rain off my and my bow, but everything did get a little damp. I don't fault the umbrella for that necessarily - the size is great and manageable for hunting, but it is not a golf umbrella or awning, so there's only so much you can do. Also, although it is a nice feature having the cloth of the umbrella meet up nicely with the tree, that is not a "waterproof" junction - some water is still going to run down the tree trunk under the umbrella, so anything leaning against the tree is susceptible to getting wet. It does help limit the water, but some will still get through. The color on this is nice, too. I was a bit worried based on the photos with the description because the umbrella looks almost blue because it is washed out, but it is a decent camo color. Make sure you check it out completely before going into the wood - determine how to attach it to the tree and maybe practice in your yard because it is not necessarily intuitive. Once you figure it out it is easy enough to connect in the woods, it just takes a few minutes. If rain is in the forecast, even a list mist or sprinkle when hunting, I recommend installing this immediately when you get out there instead of creating a ruckus 1/2 way through your sit to set it up. ... show more

  • Works great!
Much better than my custom cut umbrella. Secures to the tree well and I think this will be just what I needed. Not sure how well it will hold up but it is an umbrella after all. Would much rather a lighter item than something heavier and more durable.

  • Smaller than expected
This was a decent umbrella but a bit smaller than we hoped it would be. Ended up returning it because it didn't suit our needs but all in all good quality and looked nice.

  • decent hunting umbrella
This hunting umbrella came at the right time as my fiancé is out in our woods this month setting up for deer season. He is out in ALL types of inclement weather and often comes home soaked from either rain or snow, so I had to order this tree stand umbrella for him. Set up was NOT as easy breezy as they claimed lol It did take a little time to figure out exactly how to set it up and get it secured in the tree but after that, he thinks this will really come in handy. It hasn't rained yet since he put it up but I can see this helping even a little more than having nothing at all. The nice camo pattern will ensure he blends in with the natural surroundings. I can easily see this becoming one of his best hunting accessories. ... show more

  • Its an umbrella that fits a tree
It works well for a single person at a tree. Not too hard to get set up, And works well to keep some rain off of you if set up right. It really depends on how much its raining, if you plan on using it in a camping scenario. For tree stands and hunting it works pretty well for shade and a little bit of cover. Its handy to have for either really. It just depends on how you use it. ... show more

  • Finally have one again.
When I was little my dad would put me up into a tree stand and then put one of these umbrellas over the top of me. Many of my hunts this umbrella kept me dry. This last hunting season I sat in my stand as the bottom fell out and got drenched. I almost missed a buck as I had to clean my scope multiple times before a shot. The whole time I was regretting not having that umbrella and vowed that I would get one soon. I am really looking forward to this hunting season and using this umbrella this season. It is easy to put up and install and will keep you fairly dry on those sprinkling hunts. Easy and efficient. I love it! ... show more

  • Plan for set up time- better for shade in my opinion, possibly light rain
This isn't a quick solution, but if you allow yourself a few minutes to set it up you'll be fine. I haven't used it in heavy rain, but I'm not sure if it'd hold up. For light rain its been fine. I prefer using it for shade and to keep out of the sun.
