I have a miter saw stand I mounted a piece of plywood to. So setup was very easy. I bought a power supply that activates the shopvac when I squeeze the saw. This system works very well at containing the dust. I'm installing crown molding and some trim in a house. There has been no evidence of dust accumulation in the area even after a week of chopping. The LED light is a great touch, helps a lot. It looks like a big condom but definitely worth it...!!!! ... show more

This will be a great addition to my work shop area. I use my miter saw often but hate the mess it makes. This new dust collector will make that mess a thing of the past. It is a good size so it will fit any saw I think. It is made well and attaches securely. The LED lights help me to better see my cuts as I am working. I like being able to connect the shop vac to ensure not mess at all in my garage. This will keep down all the dust too. So glad to have this now. Clean up will be a breeze now. ... show more

You have to have ton of room for this dust shroud on the miter saw. The lighting is not the greatest either. I would say it's best on a miter stand.

In the past I tried to avoid using my chop saw because it created such a mess all across my workshop. I have a large compound miter saw ... and so I was expecting a big hood to cover it. But I was actually a bit awe struck by the enormous size of this dust collection hood. It completely engulfs my saw ... which is a good thing. Everything I had tried before still left sawdust scattered around my workshop by this miter saw. It seemed to throw its sawdust in every imaginable direction. But I think this dust collection hood has solved the problem. It encompass the total space above, below, behind, and on either side of the saw to catch the sawdust bits being thrown around. This dust hood catches practically all of the sawdust. And that was what happened during my first test of using this contraption without the advantage of having my new powerful dust collector hooked up to it drawing air in through the front opening to keep any bits from escaping in that direction. (Reason for that being that this hood requires a 4" hose connection and I didn't have a hose to fit it since I am just now in the process of switching from using my 1-1/2" shop vac hose for this purpose.) So I am expecting an even better result once that is connected. As other reviewers have mentioned, I was disappointed that rust was already appearing on some of the metal bands that form the structure of this dust collection hood. A little bit of paint - or even just some light weight oil - could have prevented that from showing up right out of the box. Speaking of "box", this unit comes with a nice, sturdy, drawstring closure storage bag ... but I don't anticipate dismantling it once it is permanently installed on its mobile workbench cabinet. The LED light strip around the front opening is a good feature since the hood tends to block the workshop lighting right where it is needed to better see and align the saw to my measured cut markings. The 4 supplied mounting brackets are heavy duty steel in sort of an "L" shape. They can be used in a variety of ways that may best fit your mounting situation. And there are plenty of variously sized bolts to use in securing the brackets. I will need to fashion some custom fittings so that I can still access the top storage compartment of the rolling tool cart I am using as a miter saw stand, but that is not due to this dust collection hood. The hood itself is designed so that (once the brackets are in place) it can be installed or stored away by adding/removing just 2 large "wing nuts." This dust collection hood for miter saws is an welcomed addition to my workshop. It will keep my shop cleaner and encourage me to make more use of that big saw. ... show more

This Tredre dust collection canopy is a beast. It's much bigger than I'd imagined. As for the mounting brackets, at 3/16" thick, they are nice and solid. I was worried I would have to mount my miter saw to a piece of plywood so that I could have a mounting surface with more options. But after trying different locations directly on the saw stand, I eventually found a location that worked. I ended up mounting it with the canopy brackets coming out from under the arched handholds of saw base. During the process of figuring out where to mount things, I kept thinking it would have been helpful if they included brackets with different angles to give you more flexibility on mounting points. Shallower angles would be able to reach further out to the side of the saw. But in the end, the mounting spot I found seems to work well. Quality-wise, it seems ok. Definitely impressed with the beefiness of the brackets, but the steel banding that gives the canopy structure was already showing some rust out of the box. While I think flexible light bar is a nice touch, but I'm not sure it's necessary so I'm glad that it's removable. Other than that, the 4" hose collection is way too big for my 2.5" shop vac, so I'll have to get a reducer. But all in all, I'm pretty happy about this dust solution. ... show more
