    • This board system is a deal changer for mattress without box spring and platform frame
I purchased a newer mattress that did not need a box spring, and a platform bed (metal) with a lot of support bars. Both stated no need for box spring, but after setting up, you could not sit on the end of the bed as the mattress would fall down between the support bars. Same at headboard. Mattress seemed small and not consistent support. Bunkie Board to the rescue. Excellent construction, sturdy wood covered with fabric. It shows slightly on edges by mattress and looks very nice. The two pieces fit in platform perfectly. Instantly transformed the bed which was comfortable, but never felt stable or 'consistent' to a much better mattress. Unfortunately I didn't look too closely at one of the pictures before purchase: While the item was as pictured the horizontal slats are a bit too far apart from each other (about 9 inches) which may not be supportive enough for soft to moderate hybrid mattresses (like the Allswell Luxe). I did notice a little more support over the old box spring I was using (full size bed) but I think had it spaced the slats closer together as the mattress manufacturer recommends (no more than 4" apart) I think this would have been a great bunkie board for those looking to maximize the support and life of a moderate mattress. ... show more

It’s easy to assemble and it’s hardly noticeable. I’ve been needing a new board and I’m glad I went with this one! It fits perfectly under my mattress and even though it’s two pieces, it doesn’t clash badly like the cheap ones you can buy.

It's cloth over widely spaced wood planks, like over a foot apart and pointless since what I have on my bed is closer together. Returning item because this won't support my mattress properly. Very disappointing.
