  • Complete kit including grease and new 'set screws' for a good price
If you have an older Rustler XL-5 you may not have a metal gear on the outside of your diff. (in which case, the idler gear is nylon as well) You might find this out quickly if you upgrade to VXL. (it will tear those nylon pieces apart) I had upgraded to metal but after about 6 years of use and several times rebuilding and regreasing my transmission and diff, I finally bought this replacement. I don't know if it helped much, my other diff may have still been good. You get those little 'set screws' for the axles with it. (which is nice) It is the whole thing. It even came with a tube of silicone grease. (which isn't in the picture) Don't tighten the screws very tight, it won't turn right if you do. (just get them flush with the plastic) For how many parts you get here, the price really isn't too bad. I wouldn't buy traxxas grease for $5.00, I would buy this for $13 or so. ($8 more for an entire diff) You really can't mess this up. It will only go together one way. I use white lithium grease on the metal ring and the other transmission gears but I use silicone grease in the diff itself. (which is what most people recommend) You don't need much white lithium grease by the way, just enough to coat each gear a little bit. Never fill the transmission with grease. Never use oil in your diff. (though I haven't tried those things, I have read about people doing them) I may take my other diff and make it solid with the aftermarket part. (that way I can switch back and forth) Solid is definitely not for extensive road use though. It might be fun to try on dirt though. ... show more

  • SUPER DURABLE. CONSISTENT
Durable, very free, consistent. There’s no adjustment for it really so you’ll be tuning around it. For less down time and consistency you can’t best it. Iv had it in this beast for s year. I did put a whole new one in when I went to an aluminum trans case ... didn’t need to at all. 3660 3300kv, 11.1 3s100c M1gears 14/42 on road mostly with no slipper. Never a problem ... show more

  • Works perfectly
Instructions were great. Easy to assemble just be sure the cover plate seats. You’ll feel and hear a soft click then install screws. Use the supplied grease.

  • just a few different parts) just fine. Very easy to assemble factory replacement part
This fit my Traxxas stampede (craniac version, same thing, just a few different parts) just fine. Very easy to assemble factory replacement part. I will say, it takes a bit of wrench time to install. Its not that its hard to do or anything like that, it just takes time. If you havent replaced one of these before then I recommend setting aside about 3-4 hours to do it. That way you can take your time and make sure its done right. ... show more

  • works good
works good but if you have to much power like I do the gears will break loosen your slipper clutch so its not so hard on the gears and they will last longer but it is a Perfect fit and works Great

  • Well made example of planetary gear system
This is set up as a differential, with no options to change gears, but it is very well constructed. Meant for RC car use, but a fun toy to play with to gain insight into how this type of gear system works. Shows how it can change the direction of rotation of an output shaft, or use as a differential. ... show more
