  • Great antenna
Paired with a KG1000G+ and the performance is excellent. Have not tested SWR because I'm able to hear five NOAA frequencies in my driveway now as opposed to two with the big name brand ghost antenna. This is a really good antenna for the money. You may not have ever heard of Tram, so check them out if you're in the market for an antenna. ... show more

  • Pretty Good Performance
I have been surprised by the performance of this little antenna. I have it mounted to a Comet RS720 and run it with 50w radio. I recently had a simplex QSO with a Summits on the Air station that was 75 miles away (and a lot higher). Not disappointed.

  • Amazing Antenna that does it all
2 meter, MURS, 70cm, GMRS, This antenna does it all with a SWR of less that 2:1 on all channels. If you need a "do it all" antenna, this is a great choice. Its also very sturdy and well made.

  • Very surprised at performance
I purchased this antenna for backup use with a dual band 2m/70cm radio and a marine VHF radio on a sailboat. The antenna is mounted on a rail about 10 feet above water. It replaced a damaged Diamond antenna and a Shakespeare marine vhf antenna. The antenna is connected with an A/B switch to two radios (Yaesu 7900 and an Icom Marine VHF radio.) Neither the Tram nor Diamond antenna (both NMO mounts) were intended for use on a boat. The Diamond antenna has never had a problem reaching high level repeaters as far away as 80 miles without proper ground plane. Using the Tram, I reached the same distant repeater. After conducting low power simplex radio checks using an FT-60r with another ham on 2 meters at a distance of 20 miles with the Tram 0 gain antenna versus a brand new 3db gain Diamond 5/8 wave antenna using same coax and mount, the reported Tram signal quality was reported to be superior to the Diamond. I had the same report on 70cm. I was able to test the iComm marine VHF radio by transmitting to a test station that re-broadcasts your transmission. For this test, I was unable to transmit using the same mount and coax with the different antennas because they have different bases. I was unable to discern any difference at low power between the two antennas. The Shakespeare antenna is also mounted much higher than the Tram Overall, I am very pleased (frankly, I'm shocked!) with the Tram's performance. After being exposed to a saltwater environment for more than a month, the antenna shows no signs of corrosion. Time of course, will be the final judge. My Diamond lasted 3 years before it gave up the ghost. I purchased new Diamond antenna anyway, I just don't leave it up when it is not in use. Would I buy it again? Yes. I will buy another Tram when the salt air eats this antenna, as I am sure it eventually will. ... show more

  • Inexpensive everyday dualband 1/4 wave whip.
If you are in range of a repeater or line of sight simplex without pushing the limits and use your radio this way most of the time, the trade off of physical size to gain and price is well worth it.

  • Excellent build quality
Good solid metal construction and comes with a weather ring. Just wish i could find one with a springy base to help with getting hit by stuff. Definitely recommend

  • I'm kind of amazed at how well it works
I get very good SWR in the 2m band (144-148 MHz), pretty good from 440-450, and it even works ok with GMRS, which has bits and pieces around 462 and 467 MHz. On the car I only use it in the middle of the roof so I can't say what happens on a bumper or fender. However, sometimes I put it on other pieces of metal and surprisingly, if it's a good sized object, say 2' x 4' (I have a piece of roof flashing like that) it performs quite similar to the way it does on a car roof. I doubt it has much gain in the UHF band but on the car roof, I seem to get SWR less than 1.5 in both 2m and 70 cm bands, and well under 2 for GMRS. I wish the cable were shorter because it's a mediocre cable, though it does do the job. I also wish the cable were type N instead of "UHF" but "UHF" is what sells in the US and I think Japan, not necessarily elsewhere. ... show more

  • Not high gain but really useful broadband
Not horrible SWRs on 2m, 70cm, and GMRS, and busines VHF. Gain was basically a dipole on UHF and quarter wave GP on VHF, nothing special. But it is a whip not a phased colinear so that's exactly what I expected. All in all a nice daily driver for those with band ADHD....
