    • (update) overall, really nice WATERPROOF jacket with 2 minor flaws

just got this and so far i really like it with 2 minor caveats. first i'll say that i LOVE all the pockets (1 interior, 2 chest, 4 hand-area pockets (some zippered, some snapped- the interior is open). it's lightweight but relatively warm- i like my jackets a little on the big side, so i usually get XL instead of a more fitted L...and if you plan to wear this in really cold weather, you'll probably want to go a little bigger, so you can wear a hoodie or layers underneath. i'd say once it gets below freezing, this jacket, alone, probably won't be enough, generally-speaking. i did run the sleeve under the faucet and it is indeed waterproof (yes!!) and i also like that it has a hood. you can also cinch up the waist on both sides with those little bungie things and tighten the wrist area with velcro (to keep the wind/cold out)- both nice features, if needed. the 2 things i don't like so far are the 4 velcro tab closures in the front- i found them unnecessary and more annoying than anything. i want to be able to get this on and off quickly and those velcro closures seemed to stick when you didn't want them to...so i removed them. the other thing i don't care for is the double zipper closure. if it's zipped up, you can unzip it from the bottom...i'm not sure why you would want that and i have no need for it and the double zipper makes zipping it up the first time a little more cumbersome than a traditional zipper, having to line up 2 zippers. i'll have to wait and see if that keeps being an annoyance or if i get used to it. but for the price (got mine at 29.99 here on amazon), it seems like a nice find. just wish they didn't use the velcro tab closures in the front (which i removed with a little effort) and went without the double zipper closure thing. otherwise, really nice jacket for the price. UPDATE: i've since lowered my rating from 5 stars to 4...because the double zipper thing is a real pain. sometimes it goes up nice and easy...and other times it takes several tries before it catches just right, to be able to finally zip up. for the life of me, i don't know why they did the double zipper thing instead of just a single, simple, regular zipper. it's a great jacket but the double zipper needs to go and so does the velcro. i was able to remove the velcro by myself. i took the zipper to a drycleaners and they said they'd have to replace the entire zipper and it would cost over $30. i paid $30 for the jacket, alone! ... show more

I was really disappointed by this jacket and the matching pants. I have a few different items from Amazon brand clothing lines and have been very impressed by the value. I was not expecting this to be the same as a high-end ski jacket, but I am pretty unimpressed by the quaility of the material. It looks nice, has nice features (powder guard, chest pocket, hood etc) but the actual material felt very cheap. The hood is nice and would probably fit a helmet (it is attached and does not pack away). It has some type of insulation but not sure what is inside. It felt very warm but I did not really test it outside. The zippers looked and felt super cheap, would not be surprised if they gave out. I when I bought the coat (blue, medium) it was selling for $80. I think my review is mainly based on thes fact that it does not seem like an $80 coat. I think this would be a great coat for someone on a budget if it cost $40-50; but for $80 I think you can either pay a bit more and get something better, or pay a bit less and get something about the same. ... show more

The jacket runs one size to small, otherwise for the price it’s good jacket. Velcro will eventually come off but will keep you warm in wind and rain.

Allow for sweater bulk under jacket. It is a snuggly fitting jacket. Had to return for larger size.
