Description

TotalBoat Marine Wood Finish forms a beautiful, durable coating that provides superior all-weather protection for the wood on your boat and around your home. It’s ideal for wooden grab rails, eyebrows, coamings, companionway boards, front entry doors, trim, outdoor patio furniture and a variety of other interior and exterior applications on teak, mahogany and other types of wood. Marine Wood Finish features a unique linseed oil and alkyd resin-based formula with synthetic iron oxide pigments to protect wood from the ravages of sun, salt, and spray, providing maximum protection against fading. It forms a breathable, long-lasting finish that stays flexible, so wood expands and contracts naturally without the finish cracking, flaking or peeling. As a welcome alternative to tedious varnishing, Marine Wood Finish provides the beautiful appearance and superior weather resistance of real spar varnish, but is much easier to apply and maintain. It goes on like paint, covers easily, requires only two to three coats – not the seemingly endless number of coats classic marine varnish requires - and you don’t need to sand between coats! To preserve the durable finish, apply a maintenance coat annually. To do this, sand lightly with 220-grit sandpaper, wipe with mineral spirits, allow to dry, and apply one coat of TotalBoat Marine Wood Finish. This versatile coating comes in three finishes to enhance the beauty of wood grain: Natural Teak, Satin, and Gloss. Each finish can be used alone, or you can combine Gloss with the Natural Teak or Satin to give the appearance of high gloss varnish. TotalBoat Marine Wood Finish comes in quarts, in your choice of clear gloss, satin, or natural teak. Compare to Interlux Sikkens Cetol Marine Finish Matte, Cetol Marine Light, Cetol Marine Natural Teak, Cetol Marine Gloss, Epifanes Wood Finish and Tried and True Original Wood Finish. All TotalBoat products provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.

  • Great varnish
Color: Satin
Great product, gave my wood door a rich look, with a golden look that is impressive. I gave it a 5 for durability which is a little premature since it has only been on a month. It’s subjected to the beach moisture and direct sun So time will tell. I would give at least 24 hrs between coats, but I did my work in an area with high humidity. A buddy that lives on a boat swears by it and recommended it. ... show more

  • Very good
Color: Satin
This stuff has to be thinned at least 10-15% in order to paint it on evenly with a brush. Then it penetrates pretty well. Seems to take at least 24 hours to get dry enough to handle, but not totally dried. It has a lot of odor, which seems to last for a long time in the garage, so I would think about that if you plan to use inside. Its 2X more expensive than hardware store spar varnish, so I hope it last longer (too soon to tell). ... show more

  • I prefer the matte finish.
Color: Satin
I found the gloss to be just too glossy for my tastes. The matte satin finish is just right. Thinning about 25 percent using turpentine makes this product a lot easier to work with.

  • This is not a clear finish
Color: Satin
I do not recommend using as a finish on stained wood. It will change the color drastically! It’s orange and it dries orange. I used over a custom color stain and had to let it dry completely, sand it all off and start over.

  • Like painting with toffee
Color: Satin
Purchased this to coat a new exterior mahogany door. Thankfully, tested it on a scrap board before it was used on the door. It’s difficult to work with— literally like melted candy. Once dried, it had turned a yellow color which make me think it is primarily meant for teak, maybe?

  • This is a really great product. They ship it out with rubber gloves
Color: Satin
This is a really great product. They ship it out with rubber gloves, stir sticks, and measuring cups included. I was resurfacing the wood on my 89' Lund boat. Marine grade plywood, then minwax Driftwood, then put 2 coats of this product over. It has a fairly dark color, very nice, and I probably didn't need the minwax first. I just put it on without mixing. Filled in all the cracks nice and looks great. Easy to use. ... show more
