  • Flaw with Total Wireless
Style: SIM Kit
The product itself is great. It works as intended and I've never had a problem with the actual product. The flaw is with Total Wireless in general. Every time you switch phones, they require you to also switch your SIM card. Should be as simple as inputting the new IMEI number into the account and reusing the old SIM card, but they do not allow this. One time while chatting with a customer service rep, they insinuated that to use the same SIM card was to facilitate SIM swapping fraud, but it seems wasteful to me to have to purchase a new SIM card with every phone change. ... show more

  • It Worked
Style: SIM Kit
I needed a SIM card due to changing carriers or phones, I can't rightly remember, but this met my needs. I was functional in no time after a bit of Total Wireless' (now Total by Verizon) support.

  • Endless Verizon Loop
Style: SIM Kit
I got the sim and set up the service okay, it's odd you have to call them to get this set up but I assume that's so they're able to sell you a plan. Obviously they want you buy the biggest plan right away and not allow you time to try it first. That all seemed to go fine, maybe just a little too time consuming. My issues all started after I started trying the service out. I brought my own Verizon Unlocked LG V30 because it's still a great device. The problem is, no matter what I do I still appear locked into Verizon. I tried setting up voicemail and all attempts lead me to getting a Verizon message that I have no service so no voicemail. No big deal, I only signed up to use my LG as a hotspot. Now for the deal killer... Every time I turn on the hotspot function on the LG I get a message "Tethering. Mobile number not found" and of course the hot spot wont start. After some searching I've learned that it's because the device tries to contact the mothership (Verizon) and since I have no service with this device at Verizon it won't allow the device's hotspot to turn on. I tried PDAnet and Foxfi and neither of those support this version of Android so, they're a no go too. I can't really blame any of it on Total Wireless, I got it all set up and the call seems good as much as I've used it. Data speeds are about the same as I get from Ver. too so... as far as a replacement for paying a lot for a phone TW seems like a pretty good option. Just beware if you bring your own, so called "unlocked" phone from Big Red. You might end up not having full use of the phone when you switch. ... show more

  • TW V
Style: SIM Kit
Total Wireless is now Total Wireless by Verizon, same cellphone towers used, rebranded only, yet service and reception and plan problems since this year. Looking for a contract with a different carrier now. Used to be awesome affordable plan.

  • Literally cut you phone bill in half
Style: SIM Kit
Total Wireless is great for those wanting to cut their phone payments in half! It’s easy to switch and all you need is a Verizon CDMA compatible phone. I think a lot of the issues people run into is they don’t have the correct information to port their number from their current provider. It is important to have your Account #, PIN, and name and billing address for your current phone provider. You may need to call them for accuracy. Any wrong information can delay the port process. Coming from non CDMA companies such as Sprint or ATT, can take longer to port because they are on a different network. I have switched phone and in less than 20 minutes they are active as long as the account info is correct. This is all in the name of security to prevent number theft, so it’s important you have everything you need before you start the process. While it is correct that customer service is overseas in some cases, I never have to talk to them. I have ported over 15 phones for friends and family and I have done it all online. As long as the information is correct, there is no need to call or talk to them. You can even check to see if your phone is compatible prior to buying these cards on the website so it is easy to tell before you start the process. I would highly recommend Total Wireless. After you sign up, if you join rewards and enter the code qsdl-dac0 you will receive 8000 points worth 2 months of free service depending on the plan you have. I have 4 phones and pay less than $108 a month for 4 lines. Well worth the switch. ... show more

  • Total Wireless works good, promotion eGift card PAIN!!! Buyers be aware...
Style: SIM Kit
Total Wireless works good, in upstate New York. It was easy to activate and to port my number from At&t, took about 10 min. Coverage is really good, LTE speeds over 50Mbps. Streaming Amazon music works great. However, after 3 weeks of service I never received text or eGift card. Fine print here is that promotions is not by Amazon or Total Wireless, but by this company called http://tpgrewards.com/ After 3 weeks I emailed them at customerservice@tpgny.com and after about 10 emails back and forth I received Amazon $25 eGift card. They ask for proof of purchase, sim number, etc. This is half scam, because if I didn't email them and follow up on all my emails, I would never receive gift card. Amazon should really step up against crooked advertisers, (this company is not even seller), and kick them off the Amazon selling platform. This also presents Total Wireless as bad company because one is switching to them but and than does not receive gift card. Total Wireless should also choose wiser with who they do business with. TPGNY has several bad reviews on BBB. ... show more

  • Late Delivery however the Sim is cheaper on Amazon
Style: SIM Kit
Hi People , Totalwireless uses Verizon network and has cheaper plans but you feel no difference in the network it works everywhere and state within US. The Sim is on high price in Walmart or Best Buy and its a great price here. The problems with this provider are :- 1. You will have to buy a new sim every time you put it in a new phone unlike other sims. 2. You may have spend 30 - 40 mins with their customer case to get it activated or registered with a new phone. These are not so bad drawback if you are able to save $ 20 - $30 on the monthly plans. ... show more

  • Easy to use, Can't beat the price
Style: SIM Kit
My only complaint with this product is that we didn't receive the gift card that was promised for activating a new line. Otherwise, it is easy activation and a quality service. I am paying less for 3 lines than what I was paying for 2 lines with AT &T. Just a heads up, that if you need to call in for customer service at Total Wireless, it will be 45 minutes to an hour of your time, so try to accomplish whatever you can on you own. ... show more
