His passion while beautiful in its art and exercised in control can burn unchecked and in one defining moment that was a loss of control, he unites his fate with a woman he has desired and wanted for years. He does not embrace the underworld life of crime in which his family is entrenched. Addison is literally "perfect" for him. He loves her "perfectionist tendencies and her lack of criminal taint. Oh... but some of her best writing is in the development of the charismatic and evil spell binder, Vasilie the younger Serbian Markovic brother. The heir apparent to the Markovic crime family. "Looking at him was the same as staring at the sun . He was scorching . Beautiful . Fascinating , but I couldn’t do it for too long or I’d risk permanent damage ." - Oksana "He was violently beautiful." - Oksana "Should it have bothered me that he was the most attractive when he looked evil?" - Oksana The way he speaks to us through his thoughts, emotions and actions has the reader intensely fascinated and feeling guilty even from falling in love with his devilish and dirty ways. Much of the intrigue of the storyline comes from the driving agenda of this unwanted illegitimate daughter who has killed a man before her virginity was even taken. The oddly beautiful love story of Vasilie and Oksana adds layers of intensity and meaning to each character. I cannot heap enough praise on this author and her unique skill with the hawt, hot, hoooot, oh so hot, driving, pulsing, breathing off the page erotic scenes. The words, exclamations, the pacing and descriptions move the reader. It is a rare gift. Her characters live for the reader in their mind long after the reading is done.     • A darker romance
I enjoy darker reads, and the storyline of Torrid intrigued me right from the beginning - the prologue had me wondering what was coming! Vasilije and Oksana were initially both using the other to suit their different agendas, but the physical draw they both felt was present from the first meeting. Vasilije comes across as so cold and withdrawn, but Oksana starts to see behind the facade he presents to everyone else. And together they are so hot!! Oksana has a plan in place to exact revenge, when Vasilije finds out who she really is and what she has planned, will he trust her, or destroy her! A really good read. ... show more

    • Ruthless, Dangerous, Sexy!
4.5 stars! """He opened his eyes and looked up at me. They were full of sin and darkness, and I was sucked into them""" Nikki Sloane has become a 1-click wonder for me and again, she has proven why with this sexy, dark and brutally sexy read! When the Russian and Serbian mafia go to battle you know its going to be dangerous. Throw in a blonde bombshell and the devil himself hidden behind a handsome face and you know this is going to get exciting. Torrid was just that. A thrilling read full of twists and turns, leaving me breathless and on the edge of my seat. Not knowing which way it was going to go, I was hoping for the best but expecting at very least for someone to be able to come out unscathed? When Visillje pulled Oksana from a shipment of girls, you knew she had an ulterior motive. What that motive was exactly remained unobvious and had me excited. A dangerous game was being played and i was hoping that both parties wanted to partake? Visillje was attracted even though the thought of it disgusted him and went against everything he was. The Russians and Serbians were enemies to the core, but the longer he kept his play toy, the harder he found it to let her go. This beautiful woman made him feel things he didnt want or need, an unwanted weakness he couldn't afford and it was only a matter of time until she would be forced to give up the lie that could destroy him? Oooh, things get really interesting and I didn't know which way it was going to go for a minute! Would the devil live up to his reputation, or had Oksana somehow given the man a heart? I knew which way I wanted things to go but you can't always get what you want? Oksana and Visillje were the same. No feelings, no heart, both with a plan to kill. They needed each other in very different ways, but in the end...they would own each other. I really enjoyed this read. It was completely thrilling and extremely sexual. This man with not a gentle bone in his body, enjoyed receiving pleasure not giving it. Oksana had no experience and couldn't stand anyone touching her... but with him she didn't have a choice, he would take what he wants, and what he wants is her! Sloane has a great mind and this comes across in every book. She knows what makes a great story and they flow seamlessly into each page. She is also brilliant at burning up the pages with some of the best sex scenes I have read! Although Torrid wasn't my favourite from Sloane, it was still a 5 star worthy read that thoroughly captured my attention 💜 ... show more

    • Wow! Loved it. Not for the faint hearted.
If at all possible I loved this book more than book 1, and I wasn’t expecting to. I didn’t particularly like Vasilije in Sordid, not that much attention was paid on him, but he excellent in Torrid, maybe even more so than Luka did in Sordid. Vasilije and Oksana, two peas in a pod, I’ve never met a couple more perfect for each other. Both have long term plans, both have no feelings, and both love the control Vasilije has over Oksana with their bodies. This may be one of the hottest books I’ve ever read, a book that’s hot without really being dirty, a book that’s violent without offending the main characters, a book that’s dark, but has so much light. Two mafia families, one Russian, one Serbian, at war with each other, and the two lovers who can bring them down utilising their bodies and not their hearts. Two people that are willing to go to extreme lengths to fulfil what they see as their destiny. I loved also that we got a peak at Luka and Addison and how their lives are progressing. Fantastic writing, a gripping storyline, and a full five star read. Not for the faint hearted. ... show more
