I bought a few sets of these for under my kitchen cabinets and I had to get a few different sizes. I installed all of them and then realized that there is an issue. I have multiple of these lights controlled by a single switch, and the different TORCHSTAR lights turn on at different times when I turn them on by switch. The larger sizes fade on later (between 0.5 - 2 seconds), which isn't too bad, but after a while it gets annoying. And it's not just how they are positioned in the wiring. I have smaller sizes on either side of my kitchen and one larger one in the middle and the larger one ALWAYS has a delay when I turn them on. Now, turning them off all of them are synced up, but turning the On has the issue. And this is consistent, so after a while it gets a bit annoying. tl;dr use only one size when installing multiple controlled by a single switch. Otherwise they aren't synced. ... show more

Great product, but it can be difficult to install. The instructions are good but trying to push the wiring in the compartment and trying to screw the cap on at the same time is rough. It really tires out your arms. Make sure your not too close to your wall because it makes it difficult to tighten the wire clasp. Overall, great light, no hum, and worth the money. ... show more

I bought the set-of-4 8" LED lights. I needed lights that could be hardwired AND run in parallel in order to fix a botched job by my contractor and his electrician. I needed to hardwire 3 and parallel wire 1. Because the 3 hardwire sites were connected to one wall switch, the 2 installation sites nearest the switch had six wires instead of 3 (line and load). In all honesty, there is no way on Earth I could stuff all those wires into the tiny cavity on the 8" lights. MAYBE on the 12" it's possible. I removed the connectors that came with the lights, as I wasn't sure about their quality (China), and used Wago connectors. The lights work GREAT, the quality of the lights themselves are better than expected. I could NOT use screws in the front-mount holes, I had no screwdriver bit that would fit into those holes and lack the hand strength to turn them into raw wood manually (67 y.o. petite widow). So I opted to use wood screws (1/2") and use the rear-mounted hole-and-slide mounting for the hardwired lights. I am still looking at alternatives for the wiring behind the lights that cannot be stuffed into the lights. Will probably try to trim down some shallow plastic junction boxes and cover connectors with those. For now, they're just "back there." :( For the 4th light, I had to run plugged wire from one light to another on the other side of the kitchen sink, through cabinets. The plugs on the cable for this are quite large; it requires drilling a hole 3/4" x 1/2". I didn't like that, so I chose to drill 3/8" holes, splice 2 cables together (making sure I had a male at one end and a female on the other end) and place the splice in a junction box at the top of the cabinet above the sink, covering it with a blank faceplate. Because the 4th light needed to go under a 9"-wide cabinet (which has 7" of usable space between the walls on the bottom side), I knew I was going to have to notch out the cabinet on one side. Once that was done, I had 9" of space to use for 8" light and the attached plug. Plug needs 1.5" of space. :( I ended up stripping off some of the thick plug and reinforcing it with white electrical tape. The light works GREAT, lights up the corner that was left dark by the contractor and electrician. I must comment, when I pointed out that the lights THEY installed did not match in color of light NOR style, and they left a corner dark, the contractor yanked out those lights and left me...raw wires hanging. And defaulted on finishing the job. Super fun times! Will add as many photos as I can. Hope this is helpful. These lights would be 5 stars all the way if using their connection cords. The 8" lights just don't have enough room for hardwiring, IMHO. ... show more

    • Mounting Screws are Too Long.

My husband and I got these lights to put in while we were remodeling our kitchen. We wanted the lights to be hardwired in. Installing the lights was somewhat straightforward but the included screws to mount them up underneath the cabinets were too long so we had to find shorter screws so that they would not puncture through the bottom of our cabinets. Also there is not much room to work with when your hard-wiring the wires. You cannot have much wire left or it will not fit in the Box even having the minimum amount of wire is hard to get into the box. The lights are all interconnected with the included jumper cables. We got two 8-in lights and 6 12-in lights. When using the cables in between the lights we had to connect two together when we were doing the inner corner cabinet, so keep that in mind. One cable was not long enough to reach diagonally for the light that we put underneath the inner corner cabinet. I also have noticed flickering of the lights since we installed them a couple months ago. The flickering actually started soon after they were installed, if we have the brightness turned all the way up with the dimmer switch (not included). They do still occasionally flicker even when we have them on other settings but more so if they're turned all the way up. I don't know if this is a dimmer switch issue or the lights themselves. The light modes/color (warm/cool) work well and the brightness is good. The make working at the counter much nicer with the light. I also like to leave the lights on the lowest brightness in the evening so that there's a little bit of light in the kitchen when I go in; instead of, it being completely dark. ... show more

I had these installe under my cabinets by a professional electrician. They still flicker when I dim them. I followed all the directions on how to stop the flickering, and they still flicker. I have wifi connected dimmers, and they meet all the criteria neccessary for everything in my kitchen except for these “dimmable” lights. I am disappointed because my husband hates bright lights, so now he won’t turn these on. I like bright, so I’ll keep them for when I’m in the kitchen. I just wish that I had purchased different units to be installed. ... show more

According to the ad, this looked pretty easy. But of course I wanted the lights hard wired, which is another matter entirtely. Fortunately my husband is a real whiz and was up to the task. It was definitely worth it.
