  • 5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a true big and tall man. This desk was one of the better pieces of furniture I found.
Size: 55" Color: Rustic Brown
To begin with, I am 6'5", and just under 300lbs. My search for a desk that would not only support my computers and work environment, but also to provide an aesthetically pleasing addition to my office. I'll get back to that shortly. Easy assembly. The addition of the shelf was a nice touch. It provides added overflow space. I was running dual 32" monitors, and had room for my primary notebook on the desk. Keyboard, mouse, phone charger. And I still have room to work. With my configuration, there is enough room to me to review contracts and other docs, and stay organized. And with all this equipment, the desk is quite sturdy. The width of the wood is great, and provides a feeling of confidence in the weight that I am placing on this desk. It does not rock back and forth, nor feel "loose" in any form or fashion. It is high enough for me to use comfortably as a big and tall person, and has no issues when I'm leaning on the desktop. There is not a category for big and tall desks, but this works not only for me, but my under 6' wife as well. The color of the reclaimed wood is on the darker scale, but not as dark as walnut. It's soothing to see from a day to day perspective. I went with this wood and black to help with a minimalist approach to this workspace. This is where this desk exceeds expectations. Work can be chaotic at times. I have learned and have started to share the concepts of a minimalist approach to the work environment, keeping those things that are needed available, not not strown across the surface. Herein is the beauty of the added shelf. A drawer becomes a place of clutter, whereas the box on the shelf holds only those things that are used on a regular basis. (When was the last time you needed a staple remover?). It's clean and streamlined. The result is a peaceful environment in which to function. I have had 4 other desks - a gaming computer desk, managerial style with filing cabinets as drawers on each side, and a simple glass top. This is my fourth and final one. I will ask the manufacturer or seller a question or two about an item sometimes to insure that if something happens, they would respond. I did just that prior to the order, and the seller responded quickly and professionally. Thank you for taking your time to read this review. Have a great day and be safe. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars No damage, Easy to Assemble, and looks good
Size: 55" Color: Oak Brown
To put the following discussion into perspective note that I am 80+ years old and have very poor eyesight. Also, since I am retired, I have time, so consider that not rushing the assembly process will lead to a satisifing result. I needed to add a desk to the room used as an office and after looking at various options, including a folding table, I chose this product. I was a little concerned due to some reports of shipping damage of various kinds. So I was totally surprised when the unit arrived in a truck and two individuals carried it into the house. I inspected the carton and saw no holes, crushed corners, or any signs that it had been mishandled. I should note that the delivery was a day late and that I was notified by email that it "should arrive the next day". If it did not, I could cancel the order and get a full refund! Unboxing was a little tedious and was well packed with stryofoam; be prepared to have little pieces of foam scattered around the unboxing area. Instructions: the instruction is in the form of diagrams with well labeled pieces. Each class of fasteners was in a separate plastic bag and labeled A-D. Each set of fasteners had one extra. The pieces that fit together are numerically numbered and consist of two uprights (Desk end pieces), one metal bar, two pieces of wood like material for the back shelf and the desktop. The numbers for the shelf, when assembled, should be in a non visible position. (In the final assembly the piece with the numbered 4 should face down and the piece numbered 5 should face the back of the shelf), Also there was included a Phillips head screwdriver that I used for assembly. Note that the instructions state that you should use two or more people to assemble the unit. Unfortunately, I live alone, and with the present COVID19 situation I did not feel comfortable in asking for help. How I assembled the unit: First, I needed to attach the bar (Desktop is attached to this bar) to the to upright end pieces. I used desk drawers to support one of the uprights while I loosely screwed the cross bar in the other upright. I now could support the attached upright by holding the bar and carefully attaching the other end to the desk drawer supported upright. Again not tight but loose enough so there is a little slop in the attached bar. The shelf was screwed together tightly as indicated in the instruction diagram. Next you need to attach the shelf to the upright desk ends. This perhaps is the hardest part of the whole assembly process. I rotated the two desk end pieces and the metal bar so that the bar was upright and the legs (with adjustment feet) facing out. The shelf could now be laid between the desk end uprights flat on the floor. Trying to fit the fasteners thru the uprights into the pre-drilled holes in the shelf was difficult for me. If the bar between the two uprights was too tight, you had difficultly in getting the screws and holes aligned. Attach one end of the shelf to one upright (4 screws) before starting to connect the shelf to the second upright. Do not tighten completely but leave a little slack. Once the shelf is attached to both desk (upright) end pieces with the screws somewhat loose tighten them but not too tight. Rotate the end uprights up so the desk frame is in an upright position (Legs with adjustment feet on the floor). Now start tightening the shelf screws leaving them slightly loose. Lay the desktop on the desk frame with the grommet hole over the shelf. I found this too be somewhat of a chore to align the top with pre-drilled holes. Surprisingly, the solution for the alignment was to match the desktop corner with the frame corner. Once you get a couple of the screws into the top add the rest of the screws and they should go smoothly. Now, go back over all screws and tighten them. Desktop bar, shelf screws, and top screws. The unit should be quite sturdy with all screws tightened. The instructions indicate that periodically you should tighten the screws. The key for a single individual assembling this desk is to take your time. Understand how the pieces fit together. Note that there is a continual reference to keeping the screws loose. Be aware that if they are too loose there is a danger of breaking out a piece of the wood or causing other attachment problems. If the screws are too tight then aligning the holes becomes a problem. Good Luck!. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great desk!
Size: 55" Color: Espresso Gray
I did the research on desks for my new home office for over a month. I finally settled on this one bc of the shelf under it for all of my equipment. Everything fits & it is incredibly sturdy. It was very easy to assemble, however, I'm a little short at 5'3" and needed my husband's help to attach the legs. The instructions were easy to follow & I didn't have any issues figuring out which bolts went where. It came packaged well and completely undamaged. I'm not really sure where the negative reviews come in for the actual product instead of it being damaged upon delivery or something equally as unrelated. Ignore them. Buy the desk. ;) ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Very sturdy and attractive desk
Size: 55" Color: Rustic Brown
It helps to have two people to assemble. Desk arrived in perfect condition. (thanks amazon) Looks better in person than in the photos. Plenty of room for my 27" monitor, desk top, and printer (large laser) lower shelf is bigger than photos show. Overall very satisfied with purchase.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, Easier to Assemble
Size: 55" Color: Espresso Gray
It's assembly is one of the easier desk I've had to assemble before. Holes lined up perfectly and was shipped well packed but because of the gauge of metal is soon then it's easy to over-tigthen and warped the metal. I wouldn't recommend using a drill to assemble. The top sits flush with the legs on the sides but front ann back leaves a lip for clamping top desktop about 2 1/2inch of depth in the front. Overall it's decent quality, nice thick top and sturdy self. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Decent desk for the price
Size: 55" Color: Espresso Gray
I had to search online for the instructions and I had to use better screws for the bottom shelf because the ones they provided weren’t long enough. Other than that solid desk!
