Description

A versatile wide-angle zoom for Canon APS-C-format DSLRs, the AT-X 11-20mm f/2.8 PRO DX Lens from Tokina offers a 17.5-32mm equivalent focal length and features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for maintained brightness throughout the zoom range. One P-MO hybrid aspherical element and two glass- molded aspherical element work in tandem to minimize distortions and control various aberrations while three SD ultra-low dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberrations for increased clarity. A multi-layer lens coating has also been applied to further enhance overall light transmission and color accuracy by suppressing lens flare and ghosting. Well-suited to working in a wide variety of situations, this ultra-wide zoom covers an array of wide-angle perspectives while maintaining consistent illumination for working in challenging lighting. Benefitting the usability, a one-touch focusing clutch permits quick switching between autofocus and manual focus modes, and an internal focusing design maintains the overall length of the lens during use. The medium-torque focusing ring further benefits precise handling by allowing for refined control when manually focusing. Additionally, this lens sees the incorporation of a nine-blade diaphragm, which contributes to a pleasing out- of-focus quality when employing shallow depth of field shooting techniques. Compatible with Canon APS-C-format DSLRs, this wide-angle zoom provides a 17.5-32mm equivalent focal length and features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture for consistent low-light performance throughout the zoom range

  • Initial results mostly positive
I have only shot a couple hundred frames so far with this new lens, but can comment on observations. It seems to be a lens that produces sharp images, with good color. I noticed how little barrel distortion there is in the landscape photos I've taken. Horizons look surprisingly good. If you like to shoot sun bursts, it will produce very nice, sharp bursts with, I believe, 18 points. It is though,a bit touchy when it comes to producing flares. Sounds contradictory, but nice sunbursts can be had with the right conditions. I have two cameras, a 70D and a 60D. The 70D kept coming up with an error code, so put it on the 60D and it works fine on that body. I read some comments regarding the weight of the lens. It is a hefty, sturdily built lens, nothing like the kit lens that comes with a new camera, but to me is worth carrying the extra ounces. I chose the Tokina over a Canon 10-18 for the 2.8 aperture. I am looking forward to trying it on night photography. ... show more

  • Fast shipping. We'll packaged, great product.
I've been wandering if they're were any reliable wide angle lens with a low F-Stop with great auto focus, I purchased the Tokina 11-20mm 2.8 for my Canon 90d, and I am glad that I did. The Tokina 11-20mm is an outstanding lens.

  • Excellent crop-sensor wide angle zoom
I chose the Tokina AT-X 11-20mm ƒ/2.8 Pro DX over the Canon EF-S 10-22mm ƒ/3.5-4.5 USM after considerable research and debate to mount on my Canon 70D. I needed effective wide angle range on my crop sensor body. This is a large lens, with large filter requirements (82mm), and it is fairly heavy. These weren't issues for me as I didn't have a lot of money tied up in a different filter size, although I knew the filters I needed would cost a bit more. I also haven't experienced any issues toting it around while hiking either with a battery grip attached to the body. Pros: - Image quality is superb. Any vignetting or distortions are easily overcome using Lightroom presets if necessary - ƒ/2.8, not usually necessary for landscapes, has been needed occasionally and provides flexibility - It feels solid and well built - Lens hood provided Cons: - It is on the heavy side, but with the glass necessary to provide ƒ/2.8 I don't put too much weight (pun intended) on this point - AF/MF transition is without a doubt unique, even clumsy until accustomed to it - Auto-focus isn't as responsive as the Canon 10-22mm, but I don't need fast auto-focus for my purposes - Focus motor is louder than the USM motor on the Canon (again more of a quibble) Overall I have been extremely pleased with the performance of this lens. It serves the purpose I intended for it wonderfully, and if you don't need the extra 3mm of range the Canon 10-22mm provides at the cost of aperture, than I imagine this lens will work just as well for you. I have attached a few of the photos taken with this lens for your viewing pleasure. ... show more

  • Simply Amazing
I just purchased this Tokina Ultra Wide lens after a lot of research. I have a Canon 7D Mark II and usually shoot with Canon lenses, with my favorite being the 70-300 L f4. The specs and the DxOMark's results convinced me to give it a try and, although I have used Sigma and Tamron lenses, I have never used a Tokina. I don't want to overstate my initial reaction, but "WOW". It is as good as any I have used and is amazingly sharp, even at a wider aperture. It is a very well built lens and because of that might be a tad heavier than some. The manual focus ring is a little different, but it was not an issue, especially since it comes with a very fast and continuous f2.8. After a full weekend with this on my camera and after seeing the results, I may have found my new favorite walk-around lens. The speed, the build and the sharpness, to me, is clearly worth the extra money over the other crop sensor ultra wides. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • I really like the lens
I really like the lens, but this lens, although it has an EF mount, DOES NOT work on Canon cameras with full size sensors except for the highest zoom setting (20 mm). Fortunately, I also have a Canon 60D which may be used with this lens' full range. Kinda a bummer, but not a total bust. I wish it would have been clearer in the ad, but it really didn't come up on many of the outside reviews either. It did, have a BIG warning in the paperwork inside the lens. ... show more

  • Best way to make your crop sensor to full frame
I tried with my entry level crop sensor dslr. Good wide angle lens for cannon entry level camera if you want to capture nice wide landscape pictures. Give a try if looking to take wide angle pictures and don't want to upgrade your crop sensors.

  • Great lands great build quality I have a recommended
this land is an awesome lens I was quite surprised at the clarity that this lens produces it's actually even better than a 24 mm Canon prime lens is sharper than that I highly recommend this lens if your professional photographer or cinematographer or videographer this lens is a must-have works great on a crop sensor of course with an adapter autofocus is a little noisy but the glass quality that you get with this lens for this price is unbeatable great wide angle lens it's my go-to lens for most of my videography shots ... show more
