Description

The Tissot Tradition models are modern timepieces inspired by 1950s design. The vintage-style design is perfectly balanced with the classical details and subtle finishes such as guilloche decoration and a gently curved case. The Claude Bernard StoryThe place where Jurassic watch making startedIn the mid-16th century, the 27-yearold Frenchman John Calvin broke with the Roman Catholic Church and fled to Geneva, Switzerland. Numerous French Huguenots followed him.As a result of religious policies Calvin banned all jewelry, such as beads, bracelets, gold and gemstones. Consequently, goldsmiths and jewelers were forced to turn to a new craft - watchmaking. It was the perfect thing to do for these highly skilled artisans. Many of them moved north from Geneva and master mechanic Claude Bernard was one of them. He discovered the gorgeous, almost divine, high-plateau in the midst of the Jura headlands, a secluded mountain-range along the French border. As a tribute to his hometown Geneva (French Genève) he called this charming hideout “Les Genevez”. Most of the year Claude Bernard, like most of his companions, farmed to feed himself and his family. But during the long and harsh winter months, when the landscapes vanished under heavy snow and the brooks were covered with ice, Claude and his fellow craftsmen created watch masterpieces. The mechanics and skillful builders started to reinvent the workings of all kinds of timepieces. The original 16th century house where these skilled artisans used to gather and share their tools and ideas still exists. It has been carefully restored and today serves as a public museum. Swiss watch manufacturer Claude Bernard is honored to be a patron of the more than 450-year-old institution, which is so closely related to their own history. Brave innovators with ground breaking ideas were the reason why “Les Genevez in the Jura” was labelled the “birthplace of Swiss watchmaking in the northeast of Switzerland” and a pioneer of highly acclaimed Swiss quality and ingenuity. Today, the professional watchmakers working for Claude Bernard, the Swiss watch factory in “Les Genevez - Le centre du Jura”, are still filled with pride of their heritage and eager to make the finest wrist watches money can buy. This is a beautiful timepiece. I've had it for 2 weeks and it keeps perfect time. My purchase was from The Time Store Authorized Dealer, fulfillment by Amazon. As always, I took a look at the negative responses and none of them are applicable. Most importantly, this is an authentic Tissot. All documentation including the 2 year warranty card from Tissot was in the packaging. FYI - I too was concerned but really like the clasp closing system, can see where this reduces wear on the band. Google it on YouTube to see how it works. Oct 2019 Update... I had to replace the watch battery which raised a concern since my purchase was Dec 2017 (less than than 2 years ago). Here is my discovery from the Tissot forum and my watch servicer as the cause of this premature battery rundown: "On most chronographs, including the T0636173603700, the large central seconds hand is the "seconds counter" for the stopwatch. It should not be moving unless the stopwatch function is in use. The seconds hand on the sub-dial at 6 o'clock is the "regular" seconds hand for standard time keeping and should always be in motion. Hope this may help someone else and this timepiece remains as a favorite in my watch collection. ... show more

  • He is very happy with it
Purchased this Tissot for my father. He is very happy with it. The watch comes with a nice box with some advertising books. I would like to have some kind of user guide (like how to adjust the time) for this watch but they don't have it. But I found some useful video on Youtube so it doesn't bring much problem for me learning how to do it. Pro: Nice and elegant. Feel very solid on hand Great style for suit Cons: No user guide Leathers band could have some marks after using for a while ... show more

  • Function did not follow form.
Very classy looking watch. I fell in love with its styling as soon as I opened the box. Followed the directions and set the time properly. Within a couple of days I noticed the watch had completely stopped. I reset it, only to learn that it wasn’t keeping proper time. Sigh! I guess beauty really is only skin deep. Returned. ... show more

  • Great watch! Should be worth more!
I love it. It looks like a million bucks. The strap feels nice. Its not too heavy. Most of all; despite a lot of people complaining about how complicated/fiddly the closing mechanism is, it really isn't remotely as bad as they make it out to be - opens and closes easily in my opinion. TL;DR: Awesome watch! ... show more

  • This is great everyday watch
This is great everyday watch. I have my share of luxury time pieces and was looking for a nice cheaper alternative to wear to work everyday and this took the cake. It came in a very nice box, this is usually a sign of good quality. People are complaining about the band and clasp, the clasp does feel cheap to me, but I am used to wearing $6000+ watches. The band is nice, people complain about how stiff it is, but you need to wear it for it to break in. The watch is lighter than what I expected, but not so light that it feels cheap. The fit and finish is great and would be a great addition to any collection. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice, decently priced time piece. ... show more

  • Beautiful watch!
Was just what I was looking for ...a dress watch with a dark, brown leather strap that is elegant and not too flashy. The watch has a nice thickness to it, which allows the watch to be exposed while wearing a long sleeved, dress shirt with button cuff (as is holds the cuff at bay, and keeps it from sliding over/hiding the watch). Beware however, this watch also has quite a large dial (I think around 42mm). ... show more

  • Needs a different strap
The watch is attractive but the snap on the strap is difficult to operate.

  • Very good buy for the money
For the money this is an attractive and elegant timepiece. The wrist band is challenging however, once you learn the trick with using it, well worth it.
