  • What an Awesome Game!
I never played the Borderlands games, but being a big fan of tabletop RPGs I decided to give this installment a go. It was a ton of fun, the looter shooter and TTRPG crossover was beautifully done, and the cast and writing made it funny as heck. Told lots of good stories, enemies were fun to fight. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a "fantasy Looter Shooter" ... show more

  • Not Bad
I got this for my nephews. It was on sale for a great price, and I needed to get them a gift for a holiday. They think it's really fun. They say it's like Borderlands but has more fantasy aspects mixed in. I've seen them playing it, and I think it's more geared to younger kids (nephews are 8, 10, 12), not sure a lot of adults would be interested. But hey, if you are, then just enjoy the game. I hope this helps. ... show more

  • Enjoyable Borderlands game, but not up to the same standards are previous games
If you really enjoy other Borderlands games, you'll probably enjoy this one too. If you're on the fence about Borderlands, this game will probably bore you. There is nothing ground breaking in this game. There is a story, but it's also difficult to care about characters in a game within a game. There are no consequences for the world of Borderlands either, so it's more difficult to care about the world and characters than in previous games. There aren't any strong ancillary characters beyond Tina and at about halfway through, I haven't seen character growth from any of the ancillary characters so far. That being said, the mechanics of this games are fun. I love finding, looting, and trying new gear. The world is pretty and some of the dialogue is quite finny. Tina makes me laugh. I've always thought she was a fun character and without her, I would probably enjoy this game less. It's not as funny as other Borderlands games, but as a fan of Borderlands, I am enjoying this game too. The overall feeling that I get from this game is that less attention was paid to it than previous Borderlands games. It has a DLC feel to it and it's shorter than other games in the series. I was disappointed that they are charging extra for the PS5 version of this game with no free upgrade from the PS4 version. It almost feels like they are trying to fleece their fans. I was lucky that I pre-ordered and I paid the same price as the PS4 version. The PS5 price is way too much for what you get from this game and I'd recommend waiting until there's a sale. I was really eager to play another Borderlands game and just couldn't wait, but if you're not terribly eager to play it, I recommend waiting. ... show more

  • Decent Game, Suffers From A Number of Common Borderlands Issues
So, I'll start off by saying, if you enjoy Borderlands games in general (the art and combat style), you'll likely still enjoy this game. The campaign is fun, side quests are enjoyable, and there's even more collectibles in this game if you like hunting for stuff. I've played all of the Borderlands games to this point so I'm not exactly unfamiliar with the series, so I can't give the perspective of someone who's only played this. Here are the things that annoy me the most about the game: 1. They try WAY too hard to force in pop culture references, to the point where after like the 10th one I had reached a point of "really? joke's over guys" 2. The endgame is incredibly repetitive and grindy. If you want to get all storage upgrade slots, you'll be grinding endgame chaos chambers for 3-4 weeks as a casual player with a day job. I also include loot luck in with this. In this entire time farming (which is a LOT of runs) I couldn't even get a spell I wanted to drop. Focused on nothing other than spells, spend hundreds of thousands of crystals on the loot bunnies at the end of the chamber, and never saw a drop. It just feels unrewarding. 3. Typical weapon nerfing. I struggle with this concept in a lot of this style of game, and knew it was coming based on all the other BL games' histories. At the onset of the game, there was one weapon that was "more powerful than intended" so of course everyone used it. Their solution was just to nuke that weapon to oblivion. Now, don't get me wrong. I think things should be balanced, and think players should have a variety of choices. But, maybe make other things better so there are other choices? People want to feel powerful. Instead, now I'm limited to 1-2 builds that could actually function in the endgame. Oh and they only work well with certain gear stats, which, see issue #2. I didn't buy the season pass, and from what I've heard about the first DLC that was a smart move. But, that does exist. In short: If you enjoy Borderlands-esque games and value the story mostly, then you'll like this game. If you enjoy really grindy endgame content, then you'll also probably like it. If you're a casual player who just wants to relax and be able to play with a huge variety of builds and weapons...wait til they're done "fixing" things in a couple years. ... show more

  • Excellent cooperative game
Only way to play this is game is cooperative. Already played 17 hours and had it less than a week. Lots to do and crazy story as any boarderlands game would be.

  • Great for 15-20 bucks!
If you like borderlands you will like this! A lot of people knock on the jokes/humor but it didn't bother me at all.
