  • These are Awesome Boots!
Size: 10.5 Color: Medium Brown Nubuck
Chukka is my style for work. I work in the Information Technology IT field so we are business casual everyday. I wore a tie for 30+ years so I will take the no tie, Chinos and Chukka Dress Code any day! It appears to me that Timberland makes so many styles it is hard to get an understanding of all of them! So I have for the past 30 days been reviewing Chukka Boots on the Internet and what is available in the Jackson, MS area where I live. I tried a pair of $250 Frye Boots from Belk, locally and they seemed to be made from very hard-leather and not comfortable to me at all so I returned them. I also returned a pair of UGG Slip On Chukka with buckle as they were too tight across the foot. When I came across these Timberland Boots I thought... Now that is the most BEAUTIFUL Outdoors looking Boot I have ever seen! Yes, it was a Boot and not actually a Chukka, so I had to try them. After reading many reviews on this item on Amazon I determined the size to try. My show size is 10.5, but I normally wear 11 in Boots. Many reviews said go down a full size, but I thought that would probably be too dramatic, so I ordered a 10.5. They are too loose to wear with a thin sock. With a Medium Thickness Sock they fit very well. The first day of wearing I noticed they seemed a little loose. So I looked down at them and thought, I have the tied loosely. Let me tighten up the strings a little and see if that makes a difference. That did it! And when it comes to strings, these Boots have an AWESOME set of Strings. I have never seen Strings like these. They are super long, super thick Round Nylon type Strings that have some pull-elasticity to them. So they are perfect for Boots like this and allow you to adjust the Boots to a custom fit. (You would just hope if you ever needed a replacement set of Strings that Timberland would make them available, because you would never find them at random. The Strings are very specialized.) It did bother me to see in the reviews where some folks said the material of the sole is not of Vibreem quality and would wear out too soon. My thought on that is why would Timberland use anything but a high quality Vibreem sole on a nice pair of Boots like this? My wear will be light so I don't think this will be an issue for me. I will be wearing them to work in an Office. They may not hold up for heavy duty or outdoor use. Finally I will say that the other thing that Timberland got right with these Boots is that they are authentic, outdoor looking boots, but they are very, very light. Maybe that is part of the reasoning on the sole material. Usually when you find an awesome look pair of Boots like this they are real heavy. Not these! Over all considering the many Boots I have researched, these are unique, AWESOME LOOKING, and very comfortable to wear! Finally, they look like a $350 pair of Boots but they cost much less! Timberland... Keep making these Great Quality Products!!! (And make replacement strings available! ;-) ... show more

  • Very comfortable
Size: 10.5 Color: Medium Brown Nubuck
Very comfortable. Light weight thin leather. Good for everyday wear. I wear these to work and love them. Probably too thin to wear when it snows but great for casual dress code work.

  • Great Boots! - Sizes run a bit large...
Size: 9 Color: Medium Brown Nubuck
I've been needing a good pair of casual boots for a while now. I looked at hundreds of pairs of boots from many different companies, and liked the look of this pair the best, and reviews seemed mostly positive as well. Not having owned a pair of timberlands in the past, I was slightly weary as to how they would hold up, fit, etc. Reading the reviews here helped immensely. Appearance: The first thing you notice right out of the box is that the boots are a softer, waxy type of leather. I would recommend buying a protector for this type of leather as soon as possible, as it will greatly lengthen the life of the boots. They are rather light in weight, which is nice, and look great. Fit: After lacing up the boots I noticed that the opening for your foot/ankle is rather small when you lace the boot up all the way to the top, if you have wider/thicker feet keep this is mind as I have actually had to leave the laces out of the top three lace eyelets just to get the boots on. If you have thinner feet and smaller ankles it shouldn't be a problem. Also, I wear a 10.5 in pretty much every shoe/boot I have worn, after reading other reviews, it seemed that these run large, so I ordered a 9... It fits my foot perfectly... So really to be safe I would recommend ordering either a size or a size and half smaller than you normally would to get a boot that fits right. Feel: Great! Almost no break-in period... Pretty much put these bad boys on and was good to go. The sole is quite comfortable and provides plenty of cushion and support. Durability: These ARE NOT a boot I would recommend for anything but casual wear. Rain, Snow, etc., they do fine, but hiking up the side of a mountain, or wearing to the worksite every day, I just can't see them holding up. Just from wearing them around town I am already noticing wear in the sole, and the leather, since it is soft and waxy, shows scuffs and scratches easily (again I recommend the leather protectant.) Overall, these are great boots for getting around town in all seasons, maybe even light hiking use, but they aren't really what I would consider heavy use/work/outdoor boots. They look great, are comfortable, and I certainly enjoy wearing them around. ... show more

  • Tims For The Win
Size: 12 Color: Medium Brown Nubuck
These look great in a retro kind of way. The stitching pops subtly in the Medium Brown colorway. One thing with these boots is that they look more rugged than they are. Not that they aren't made well, but they are much more lightweight than their look suggests. This is both a pro and a con. Being lightweight, they can be worn in Fall/Spring. But I wouldn't call them super heavy duty boots. They will be ok in winter, especially mild winter climates, because they lace high and the height of the show makes it fairly warm/ temperature regulating. They aren't waterproof, seam-sealed, or insulated apart from the normal thickness of a high leather boot. Mine came oiled, and you can add waterproofing for protection against light rain, but in a torrential downpour, water will eventually soak through. They have a wide toe box and run true through the arch. They go best with thicker socks and pair well with jeans, khakis, or jean-style cords. As long as you know you won't be climbing Everest with these, you can manage your expectations accordingly. They will be fine for city streets, pavement/gravel, and light trail use. I'd love to see this style in a chukka with three fewer eyelets for easier on/off. Did i mention they look great? ... show more
