The grip on the bottom is amazing, it doesn’t budge. The surface is smooth to the touch, but doesn’t allow the keyboard to move around while you’re gaming, yet it’s easy to move when needed and it’s smooth enough to conveniently navigate with your mouse without resistance. It has a very nice texture that my mouse glides across quit smoothly. Of course it didn't want to lay completely flat, but a strip of double sided tape fixed that easily enough, just lay the strip out first and just stretch the mat over it. I was initially put off by the rather dim lighting, but I think of it more as accent lighting rather than the loud center piece. The media could not be loaded. The quality is pretty good I usually have of stuff on it and it hasn’t really got dirty. I would still be careful. You’re able to design the lights also!
