Tilta makes solid gear that you can bet on, but their design can be a head scratcher sometimes. This products is one of those times. The battery plate can indeed be mounted waiter upright or sideways. You simply must undo two screws, and then GRIND OFF A TAB that prevents it from mounting the other direction. I don’t know why they would provide the other mounting screw points, but then have a tab to prevent your from using it. Absurd. ... show more

    • Overall it works well, mine had a flaw
This works well so far. I use it in a "flat" orientation (the way it arrives), rather than letting it hang off the back of my rig behind my shoulder vertically. It seems it is possible to use it in this "vertical" configuration according to another review...just by switching a couple screws, but my particular copy is actually mis-machined so the screw holes are like a millimeter too close together to actually be re-oriented. The media could not be loaded. The main attribute of this product is its price-quality ratio. It is constructed of metal and plastic, excellent finish, has several outlets to feed various equipment or accessories.     • Lovely unit, but goofy limitation on mount orientation
I wanted this in my system, but it’s very stupid on Tilta’s part, IMO, to prevent you converting it to a 90 degree orientation to the rails. The rail mount piece is removable, the holes are there, but they put a chunk of aluminum where you could obviously have relocated the mount. Other people have ground that chunk of metal away, but I refuse to do that. I went with a Juicebox unit that works well. ... show more

    • Wish it could tilt.
With a name like Tilta you would figure they would make this battery plate able to tilt. Nah, but the connection to the battery is rock solid. I tried to get it to give up the battery I mounted to it and it refused. That's a win in my book!. 2 DTAP ports is great for running their follow focus motor and an Atomos monitor plus the 8.2v conection for my a6400. So no expanders needed here! ... show more

    • Seller did absolutely nothing to fix the problem!
The product is suppose to be able to be adjustable underneath by repositioning the holes to fit on either end, or in the middle of the mount. One of the screws underneath was so extremely tight it was unable to come out without stripping the screw. I can't get it to sit on my rig where I want it. I sent feedback to the seller and they did absolutely NOTHING! ... show more
