Ideally the protein you give your cat should be animal-based, not plant based as they do not digest proteins like grains as well. This isn’t a preference thing, it’s science. That being said, some of those premium foods are getting extremely hard to find and are more expensive than good human food. I think WITH the MAIN ingredient being chicken, no nasty rendered “byproducts,” this food is a decent choice compared to many of the other options in this price point. It’s baked not extruded. We have several picky eater cats and they will eat this food. No issues so far. As always if trying something new get the smaller bag first and introduce gradually if you are trying to wean your cats off the old food. Like most, my cats are picky eaters they only like the chicken and egg by Tiki cat, which is usually fine, because I know it’s a lower carb cat kibble. I bought this on a lark, just to see if they would eat it. I give it to them about once a week. And miracle of miracles, they really like it. I mix this cat food in with my cats' regular kidney diet dry food to give it that extra tasty flavor and for variety. My cats go nuts whenever this shows up and I add it to their other food and shake it all up (I have a big sealed container full of all the dry cat food). It's kind of expensive for a 6 pound bag (their kidney cat food is 20 pounds and costs about the same) but the ingredients are high quality and my cats love it.
