I never used a water softener before, but when I compared my water to my neighbor's it was obvious I needed one. This unit is basically the same as the commercially available softeners, but its less than half the price, and came with almost everything I needed to install it. (I have to buy 2 shark-bite PEX adapters and some flex lines to install). If you watch the videos on Youtube, installation is fairly straight forward.

UPDATE 2/23/19 The customer service is the best one we have ever met. After this review The customer service contacted us right away and tried so hard to solve our problem. Because the head piece can not fit our 1" cooper pipe at home. They even send us another head piece at no extra cost that's just right for our 1" cooper pipe. But the only problem is that it is a dial one not digital one which is what we prefer. But no matter what they are trying very hard to solve our problem. They contacted us through emails or phone calls almost everyday. Unfortunately we didn't have time to setting up the softener now but will update again after it starts to work. Thank the customer service again! For their wonderful service I changed 1 star to 4 star here. If it's working well I'll give 5 star for sure! ==================================================================================== We bought this unit to replace our old one. It's should be easy to install because all the pipes and outlet are ready. The shipping is on time. But when we opened the box we found the manual is just copies not a well printed booklet. Then when we tried to install it we found the bypass valve has 3/4" threaded connection. But our copper pipe is 1'. We read many reviews here and found someone said theirs comes with 1' and 3/4' line connections. But ours only comes with 3/4" connection. Did we miss something? We read the manual thoroughly but still can not find any useful instruction. The manual is not helpful. We can not wait to try this water softner but first we need to install it properly. But so far it's a pain. Thanks and please give us any suggestions how to install it.

This softener setup shipped and arrived quickly! It was easy enough to install, and we noticed an almost immediate improvement in water quality. However, programming for the digital control valve wasn't intuitive at all. The YouTube video ended up being more helpful there than the printed instructions. Also, it seems the flow meter on our valve isn't working. We double-checked the water meter impeller and probe, bypass knobs and inlet/outlet connections.... Could not get it to acknowledge the water flowing through the system. For now, we currently have it programmed to regenerate about every other week, since it's just two of us in the house. Hopefully we can figure out a fix! Seems to be a good value for the price; saved us thousands.

I've installed probably 5 or 6 systems over the years and this one would not be one I'd buy again. The reverse osmosis package came with badly damaged parts. I contacted the company and they did send some of the parts to replace the bad parts but I had to go to Lowe's to get the rest of the pieces. I didn't feel like contacting them again to get the rest of the parts. I had to run several tanks through the reverse osmosis system until the horrible taste was gone. I thought after two full tanks it would be enough, but it wasn't. It took close to 5 tanks of water before the bad taste was gone. The installation for the reverse osmosis system is pretty bad. I've installed other systems so I knew what to do, but for someone with no prior experience installing an RO system, I think they would be quite lost with the included documentation. The resin tank and salt tank seem to be okay. I'm not sure if my unit is measuring water use properly as I am not going through much salt, so I'll have to spend time with that very soon. I'm not impressed with this package at this point.

This is my second purchase of this product. First one went in easily and worked great right off. On the second one I had a problem that turned out to be incorrect installation by my plumber, nothing wrong with the Tier1. However, before we found out that it was plumbed wrong, Tier1 support shipped me a replacement part, and literally spent hours on the phone troubleshooting the problem, which turned out to be mine and my plumbers problem. Dana and Emily went above and beyond to help me get the unit working properly. Would definitely order again from Tier1. The unit does a great job on softening the water. Great product, great value, great customer service
