As another reviewer pointed out, Acetyl L Carnitine is a great supplement for hyperthyroidism. It's well-documented, and I learned about it through my own research after my diagnosis. The supplement is not a cure-all -- but helps tremendously with symptoms such as anxiety, racing heart, sleep problems and other hyper issues. (It has other health benefits, too, but I'm talking here about its use for hyper-thyroid patients.) This brand works especially well and is of great quality. I like the fact that each pill is 500mg, and you can opt to take it in divided doses to spread throughout the day. I was experiencing some thyroid flare-up symptoms recently, and took one of these in the morning, and another in the afternoon. I was amazed at how quickly my symptoms subsided -- and how much better I felt by the end of the day (and how much better I slept that night). These helped put me back on track very quickly. I'm putting this out there for other folks in cancer treatment taking a hedgehog inhibitor and having the side effect of severe muscle cramps and bone pain. I have been on Erivedge (Vismodegib) 1 month on, 2 months off (chemo holiday) for over 3 years. Cramping starts for me between week 1 and 2 an continues typically for 10 weeks. This time my cramps pretty much ended at 2 weeks into my 'holiday' - that is a big improvement! I found that taking 1000mg 2 times a day cut the cramps and pain by about half after the first week. On advice of oncologist I went up to 1000mg 3x day and the relief is significant, this in terms of frequency, and duration of the cramps and severity. On the pain scale this took me from a 10 down to a 3. I wish Thorne sold it in larger quantities. I am going to try another brand that also has none of the magnesium stearate and other filler things that I react to. Grateful and hope I continue to get this relief. ... show more

Started taking it about 4 days ago. Felt good, lots of energy, seemed to sharpen my brain, however yesterday I was really edgy, short tempered and a bit nasty. So, I'm going off it for a few days then try again to see if that is what altered my mood. Hopefully not, because it did feel better. I was taking L-carnitine, but this one has acetyl-l-carnitine. Edit: I’d like to say I had one of the best customer service I’ve ever had on Amazon. After posting the first review, the seller contacted with a very helpful attitude and concerned about my health and safety with the product. They asked me details about my side effects and offered a full refund. I did not expect this and it was a very pleasant experience. As I explained in my first review, I have IBS, and basically most of the supplements as well as several foods cause me digestive issues. This supplement, was recommended by my dermatologist, who’s one of the best in the state, to manage joint and muscle pain caused by Accutane. She was very direct when recommending this exact brand. There is good research showing the effectiveness of this product on patients on Accutane experiencing muscle and joint pain, so this is really a reliable supplement! My experience was very personal and due to an underlying condition. I just want to say thank you to the seller for their professionalism, and commitment with the customer. Original review: I don’t want to say the digestive issues will be true for everyone taking this supplement, as I have IBS and a really sensitive tummy. My dermatologist prescribed this to deal with muscle and joint pain caused by Accutane. I took it a few days and could not bear the bloating and indigestion issues.     • Works Super for Chronic Fatigue

Thorne is expensive, but it’s one of the highest quality brands of supplements on the market. I buy a lot of supplements due to ongoing chronic fatigue and histamine intolerance. It’s always readily apparent when a supplement is of poor quality because my symptoms flare. I take one of these in combination with a multi B and sublingual NADH and, depending on the day, it feels like I’ve had a nitro brew coffee (on a good day) or makes me functional so I can work (on a bad day). If you read the research on this supplement there’s an upper limit on mg you should take before it could cause heart issues. Unless you’re abusing this supplements dosage recommendations by taking over 2 grams a day, you’ll never come close to the dosage the research indicates is deleterious for your health. More importantly, if you follow the recommended dose on the bottle it’s way below the recommended limit. As someone who often has days where I can’t even get out of bed this supplement is a godsend and worth every penny. On really bad days I’ll take one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I highly recommend this product for anyone with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia. ... show more
