Edit 7.23.2023 Ok so just to add to this as EVERYONE will eventually have melted range knobs (they are plastic), metal knobs DO exist. Took a lot of trial and error and I have not yet found one for the oven, but for the stovetop knobs they can be found here on amazon. Just search for B089SQ8B6T. The full description reads as follows; PRODUCTZ Pack of 2 DG64-00472A / DG64-00347A Full Metal Body Unbreakable Eternal Gas Stove Replacement Knobs / Replaces AP5949480, PS10058981,Fits Range FX510BGS FX710BGS NX58F5300SS NX58F5500SS +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Edit 6.14.2019 So I finally fixed the simmer burner that I was having trouble with. The issue was actually much simpler that I thought it would be. The burner DOES come off without accessing beneath although it initially appeared to be bolted down (it is not). The gas tube in the center that is fixed to the burner is held into the range by pressure of a piece of spring metal in the larger tube that it is inserted to that is fixed to the range. You just have to wiggle the burner a bit while pulling up. It will snap back in by reinserting and wiggling the burner as you press back down. The igniter is very close to the simmer portion in the center of the burner. For the larger BTU outside of the burner to be able to light, there is a slot leading to a hole that runs from the center of the burner to the outside (look at some of the images provided by others and you will see it). This slot is how the outside of the burner gets lighted. In my case it was plugged so after removal I cleaned the slot with some folded over paper and the hold with a cutoff q-tip stick. Works perfect now! To bad the manual doesn't mention this. ++++++++++++++++ Ok, so here's my thoughts in no particular order. This should address some of the issues that others speak of. Bought mine in May 2016 off Amazon for $1600 after lots of research and a leap of faith in buying something like this online and having something this heavy shipped from California to Alabama. Shipping worked out fine. Observations and things to know: This is NOT a self cleaning oven. Knew this when I bought it and I was ok with that. Not a big deal really, just use a good oven cleaner and inside wipes off easily. It is NOT electronic. Again, I knew this when I bought it and actually wanted it that way. That means no timer, no digital displays, etc. etc. There is NO BOTTOM STORAGE FOR PANS. I simply missed that in my research and it turned out to be an issue for me since we have a small galley kitchen that was already full of pots and pans. DONT LEAVE THE OVEN DOOR OPEN when oven is in use. Lots of stoves tell you do do this as it allows them to get hotter when broiling. For this one the manual states not to and it will melt the front knobs if left open for very long. In time, even if careful, you will see some heat damage as the knobs are chrome plated plastic. I would love to get some replacement knobs - red would be fantastic for the look - but so far have not located a source. The oven racks do not pull out very smoothly. Workable but still I would have preferred a better design. Stainless steel scratches easily. If you have every owned anything stainless you will already know this. This sucker has a higher BTU output when everything is ablaze than my home furnace. I knew this when I bought it and had a larger gas line put in for about $300. The spec'd output on these burners put most if not all the big box stoves to shame. Gorgeous blue on the inside of the oven by the way. Really a beautiful stove all around and exactly the look that I was going for. Having said that, it reminds me of the white floors and cabinets that we used to have in the kitchen - -constantly looked dirty unless you were constantly cleaning. Whatever. A large reason for the purchase was for the looks so we deal with it. Convection does cook quicker so watch the cook times when using it to start. Simple rocker switch turns the fan on and off. The larger BTU burner can really put out a flame and will slightly discolor edges of the adjacent stainless if not careful. I did this once and was able to polish it out for the most part. After speaking with someone who owns a Viking or Wolf (cant remember which), I realize that many of the minor issues are the same with those stoves as well. I was sort of aware of this from my research anyway but from reading reviews it appears to me that some of the complaints are the same for the ranges costing many time more. I had one burner, which unfortunately was the special one that will go to a super low setting, that stopped working correctly after about 2 months. Checked into getting service done and once I realized that an authorized service center was nowhere near I simply didn't try to get it fixed. I'm an avid do-it-your-selfer anyway so I will eventually fix it myself. It looks like it is simply not tightened down from the underside which allows a bit of gas to leak out from beneath where it should not when turned on (which make the igniter continue to run - annoying, but I've got 3 other burners). I've had no issues with adjacent cabinets getting too hot or discoloring paint - makes me wonder if they were leaving the oven door open. Also, the pic that I saw from the reviewer who had this issue showed an adjacent cabinet with white paint so that could exacerbate any issue. Makes me wonder if they used oil based paint - which WILL yellow worse than water based - or if they left the door open to the oven when cooking, which you are not supposed to do. Verdict: Would I buy again? Yes I think so at this price point. Overall I'm reasonably satisfied. ... show more

  • So far I like it, it came dented on the side and ...
Bought this stove to replace my aging Wolf 6 burner with griddle and two ovens, the Wolf lasted 20 years but was getting old and needed work, it was a commercial restaurant stove so is hard to get someone to work on it and it was rusting in spots etc. We wanted a smaller stove to gain some counter space so we went with this. So far I like it, it came dented on the side and amazon gave us 40 percent off! the list price and seeing no one will see the dent that was awesome. I did contact Thor Kitchen about it however to see how they would respond, they never called me back so buyer beware. I can see people having knobs melted because if you use the gas broiler and open the door (this is a gas broiler and oven) the flames lick the outside at the front a bit (they do say in the manual not to leave the door open while using the broiler for more than a few seconds, so either open it when the broiler flame is not lit as it constantly turns on and off when in use or only open it very quickly. When using the oven or broiler in general it gets very hot on the upper back of the oven so make sure you have fire resistant wall behind it, we have a tile wall and plaster behind it so its safe. The biggest gripe I have is that this thing scratches so easily its crazy. All you have to do is look at it and it scratches. I told the guys who were installing our new cabinets not to leave tools on it as it scratches easy, but when I checked on them later they had totally scratched up the top face in front of the burners some how :( Oh well... I rather be the one who messes up my new stove not installers but such is life. SO when you get it installed tell your guys to be very careful. I have amazing gas flow via the top burners with this thing almost to the point of it being a little scary but I like it. You just have to be careful with this baby when using it. Another thing is when you use the oven, the knobs get hot and don't turn as easily as they do when just using the range which is a bit odd. Over all I do like it and hope it will last for at least 10 years. This stove is sold under many company names and they just stick their logo on it. So beware, Thor Kitchen is only one of the names that sell this stove. Maybe call the company you want to buy from first and check out how they treat you as a customer before actually buying to later find out that customer service is non existent. Amazon delivered it and installed it. They charged me extra for removing my old beast of a stove but I knew that was coming, but they gave us a really nice discount for the side dent so thumbs up to Amazon. One other pet peeve is the center grate, as you cook stuff will splatter onto the stove surface under the center grate so you have to take it off and clean under it all the time, just make sure not to drag it as you remove it or you will have the dreaded permanent scratches. Also one last thing is all the burner grates have rubber feet under them so you don't scratch the surface when removing them to clean the stove and to support them but my guess is they will not last more than a few years and will have to find replacements...
