These are a great modernization of the classic pince-nez ("pinch-nose") style of glasses; you may recall seeing similar in portraits of Benjamin Franklin and others. While not compatible with masks, they are absolutely amazing around the house and in open-air situations. The nose grips are indeed rough; it doesn't bother me, but the light sanding with a superfine nail file or similar mentioned by another reviewer will likely handle it for those who are bothered. They are now my favorite pair of reading glasses when wearing contact lenses, and I am finding them surprisingly comfortable even for working (which is longer-term wear than most use them for.) Warning: if you are baking anything and put them on to read the recipe, TAKE THEM OFF BEFORE OPENING THE OVEN. They did fall off into the bottom of the 350F oven; I got them out immediately, set them aside to cool, rinsed and wiped them with a cleaning cloth, and they are surprisingly unharmed. I do notice the tiny strength and brand text engraved into the top of the lenses and keep mistaking it for a smudge, but once I'm used to that there's no other issue for me. I almost immediately bought a second pair in light of the warnings about scratching, but also because I want a pair that will live on my keychain/in my jacket pocket and I seem to have adopted the initial pair for office use. ... show more

I bought a pair of ThinOptics Keychain Case and Readers in July of 2023. I love them, they're so convenient and I always have them handy since they're with my keys. Then, towards the end of October, I noticed one of the nose pieces had broken off, which isn't a big deal for me as I only use them for very brief periods to read small print. Then in early November I noticed that they wouldn't stay clipped into the keychain case, and would easily fall out. I submitted a replacement request through the ThinOptics website and within the same day I received a response asking for the shipping details to send the replacement. I'm at the point where it's nice to have readers available for that darn small print in dim light that I seem to encounter more and more often. The ThinOptics are the smallest and easiest to carry that I have found. One really great feature is that the lenses are ground so that there is no front or back. You just put them on and read. The case is a clever bit of kit and with very little practice you get the hang of sliding them in and out. My only gripe was the nose pieces. As received from the box, they were very, very rough--almost like sand was embedded into them. I'm sure this is to help them stay in place when you move your head, but I found it very uncomfortable to wear for more than a few seconds. I fixed this by taking a very fine sandpaper (600 grit) and lightly burnishing the nose pieces until they still held in place but did not feel like they were digging in. I haven't had them long enough to rate their scratch resistance, but at the moment I'm finding the folding, flat design excellent for EDC. ... show more

I purchased these for my husband who only wears glasses for computer work but always had a hard time reading restaurant menu's. We tried to remember to bring his glasses when we went to restaurants but we would often forget them so we thought to try these. These are great. We have them on his keychain and he pulls them out whenever he needs them. These allow him to read menu's and any other small print things that he needs to read while out and about. ... show more

These tiny gems sit in your pocket effortlessly until you need them. Then, just extract by sliding the little button, pop them on your nose, read those dark menus and bills to your heart's content, then snap them back into their case. They are so great that after my wife bought me one pair, I bought three more for my briefcases, travel bag, home, and suit pocket as I head off to work. They do scratch a bit, but who cares? This product is great! So compact and totally unobtrusive to carry. It goes right on your keyring, easy to extract from its sturdy case, and easy to put back. These glasses have no ear pieces, they just go on the bridge of your nose and are held there by the tension spring. I've been using this product for eight years, the glasses finally broke when I was putting them back in the case (after eight years!). I loved these compact readers so much, I had to go on Amazon right away to see if they carried them, and I ordered 2 so I would have a backup. So the pros with these are that because they attach to a key chain you don't have to worry about forgetting your readers at home or losing them while out. So from a portability standpoint, these are great. Wearing them is where they lose a few stars - since they sit on the bridge of your nose they kind of pinch a bit and they definitely look kind of funny. I reserve these for quick needs like reading a menu or quick glances at my phone while out and about vs using them for longer periods of reading. ... show more

I'm always struggling to read labels/menus when out shopping or dining. Always saying, wow, I don't have my reading glasses.
