  • Nice holster for carrying larger mirrorless with lens while backpacking
For quite some time I have been searching for the best way to carry a larger camera while backpacking. Now that I have switched to a smaller NIkon Z7 mirrorless from a DLSR, things have gotten a little easier and the smaller size opens up a few more possibilities. Think Tank makes a series of holster cases which seem to work pretty well. I purchased the Think Tank 10 V2.0 which proved to be too small for my Z7 with the 24-70 f2.8 but would have worked with the 24-70 f4 kit lens. The model 20 V2.0 is the perfect size for my combo. Pros: High quality materials and workmanship, nice features to include rain cover, extra pockets, an expanding zip-out expansion allowing longer lenses or attached hood and a robust belt loop attachement system which I did not attempt to us via attaching to backpack belt. Carrying the holster as shown allows me to access camera quickly and without having to attach the lens hood if using the zip out expansion feature. I simply slipped the camera with strap on first then the the backpack. The holster is in the perfect position for fast camera grab and photo shoot. Cons: I replaced the supplied strap with metal buckles with a lighter OP/TECH snap off strap. One option that is missing but found on some Lowepro holsters, is a quick lid fastener for fast camera access. With the Think Tank you have to unzip each time. I found myself half zipping shut but a secondary lid closure system would be nice. I think I would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the clunky metal buckle strap system. Otherwise a great product which I will be using for a long time to come. Note that I would recommend trying to attach the holster to the backpack belt or sternum strap via the belt loop system and see if that works for you. Thanks for reading. ... show more

  • Perfect for the active photographer!
This is my second Think Tank holster and these things are the bomb! A typical hike is 10 miles for me. These things make carrying your gear effortless while keeping your camera easily within reach. The material withstands anything I've thrown at it. Sliding down rocks, going through brush and manzanita. No rips, tears, nothing. My first one was the 30, used for my Nikon D810 w/the Nikkor 90 plus the 28-75mm or the Sigma 150-600. It was pretty roomy for the lenses, although the camera body was a tight fit. I always keep my quick release mounted on the camera and that added to the tightness. The 20 fits my A7R3 with the 100-400 perfectly when extended. The foot from the lens has to be removed, so if it's important to you you'll need a bigger bag. I don't ever use the rain fly, so that pocket goes to more gear. There's a front pocket that holds a cell phone perfectly. If you're looking for a bag that fits your active lifestyle, get a Think Tank. I can't recommend them enough. ... show more

  • Functional and Convenient
I just received the Digital Holster Bag 20 v2.0 for use with my Sony A900 and CZ 135/1,8 lens. I wanted something that would hold my primary rig on the street without any excess, but roomy enough to leave my L-Bracket and camera strap attached. This holster strikes the right balance for that purpose. When I inspected the holster I was impressed with the quality and nicely designed features. I removed the rain cover from the side pocket and placed it in the base of the lens extension. This serves as a shim and extra padding to bring the camera a bit closer to the top of the bag opening. The holster comes with a sturdy detachable shoulder strap although I opted to use my own 'UpStrap SLR QR with Vectran' non-metal Loop Ends (best kept secret out there). The exterior zippered side pocket is gusseted with an elastic interior sub-pocket with a wide horseshoe shaped opening. It easily holds an extra battery or two, 77mm filter or similar sized accessory. The main zippered topside closure includes an exterior slotted pocket suitable for business cards or I.D. while the underside has a slightly larger Velcro pocket for CF cards or the like'. There is also a nice elastic exterior flat pocket that will hold something like a parking stub, receipts, lens cap or Granola Bars. The backside has a Velcro flap and plastic reinforcement for use with the optional holster belt. It lays' completely flat in the closed position and doesn't get in my way. Overall, this is now my preferred day bag for street use or when I simply want to carry the basics. It's compact enough that it could fit inside my airline carry-on luggage. About the only thing' I'd like to see, is a little less Velcro and color options. Honestly, if I see another black ballistic nylon bag I think I'll vomit. In this regard 'Crumpler' is way ahead of the game. ... show more

  • Terrific Holster!
I carry a couple of cameras into the field and don't like carrying big cases or backpacks. The Think Tank 20 is perfect! It holds my second camera with a 70-300mm lens. My main camera is a Nikon Z7 with is a bit smaller than what the holster was designed for, but not so small that it's insecure or not well protected. I love the ability to easily open and close the lens extension. It's also nicely designed with some extra storage: Inside there is a 4"x5" flat pocket with velcro securing flap. The outside zipper pocket contains a rain hood but is big enough for batteries and or small accessories. Lastly, there is a stretch pocket on the front for quick storage and access to things like a lens cap or sunglasses. There is a strap on the side opposite the zipper pocket. The entended us if for the Think Tank modular system. I use it to attach a small pouch large enough to hold my keys and cellphone. The strap was well thought out, it's adjustable so that it can be used both shoulder style or as a sling. It attached to two very secure metal d rings with strong metal swivel snap hooks. This thing is really well thought out and well made! I can see it lasting for years and holding a variety of cameras and lenses. ... show more
