  • The light stopped working
My granddaughter loved this. But the light stopped working. A new battery didn’t work either. I can’t say why it broke. I wasn’t there. It looks nice though.

  • Fun!!
The media could not be loaded. Bought this for my costume to trick-or-treat with my grandkids and this really makes my costume!! First one ordered didn't work but replacement wand works perfectly! Love that is lights up with different setting of brightness. Really does turn on and off with a flick of the wrist or tap! It is plastic so wouldn't recommend for younger children. Description says no rechargeable batteries should be used ... show more

  • Does not work well with rechargeable batteries
This item isn't quite nice enough to be a collectable and isn't quite fun enough to be a toy. I think it would be best fit as an accessory to a costume. When it is working correctly, it is neat. When we first got the wand, we put rechargeable batteries in it (don't have others on hand) and it worked as expected. But after a few minutes, the wand began functioning erratically and the light would dim and brighten on its own. So I thought maybe the batteries were dead so I took them out and checked. They were not so back in they went. And the wand started working as expected again. A few minutes later, the issues were back. So I just opened and closed the battery compartment to power cycle the wand and it began working again. Other reviews indicate that other purchasers have witnessed the same. I figured it might be battery related so I got a set of alkaline batteries and that put an end to the issue. Seems that the voltage of rechargeable might not be enough for the wand to function properly so if you are having issues with the wand dimming on its own or not working well, try changing the batteries. I returned the wand and bought the Hermione Wizard Training Wand instead. It is clearly a toy. Doesn't even pretend to be a replica. But has sound and allows you to cast different spells. My daughter thought it was much more fun and it was a bit cheaper. So if you're looking for a toy, check that out. ... show more

  • I'm 22, and I love it.
Yes that's correct, I'm 22 years old and I bought this toy for myself ;) I've always been a huge fan and I grew-up with the characters, but I'm usually only ever extremely nerdy in my own house. This toy is wonderfully fun, I bought it, believe it or not, because I'm aways waking up in the middle of the night to get a drink or use the bathroom, and I thought this would be much sweeter than a flashlight or a night light. It is larger than the collectable wands, and much less in quality than them too, but that's because this is a toy. It's larger because two batteries need to fit in there, and quite obviously made of plastic.I can't stress this enough to those negative reviewers, you're paying for the Harry Potter name, the price is not going to go down. I'm an avid collector, and yes it's as much as the collectable wands even though I myself would consider it less of a collectable and more of a toy, but it's also ten times more fun since it really does light up with just a flick of the wrist, and off again in the same manner, which is better than any other light-up wand you'll find out there. My conclusion: If your'e willing to spend the dough, this really will be worth it, you or your child will go bonkers for it. To you it may look too fake, but to your kid, they are a real wizard! How big of a price tag can you put on that kind of joy? By far the most fun thing I've added to my collection of HP items. And I plan to use it constantly. ... show more

  • Really fun cosplay prop
This is a _really_ fun Harry Potter cosplay prop. Something not made clear in the listings for the wand is that the odd looking round-ended tab with a hole in it, at the bottom of the wand, is actually a removable 'key' for the battery compartment's screw-on end cap. You would normally not have that key there when using the wand, and it won't stay there on its own. Removing the key makes the wand look much better in use. A down side of the wand's design is that the motion and touch sensitivity is pretty easy to trigger, and there is no 'on/off switch', other than using the key to open the battery door a half-turn or so and disable the light feature. So when carrying it around while doing cosplay, but not intending to make it light up, you'll probably want to use that key to deactivate it to save battery power and avoid accidental light-up moments. Then just a quick twist of the key is needed before playing with the wand's light-up feature. Having the key is nice, and it would be easy to attach to a con badge lanyard with a loop of cord. But designing the end cap to be able to use a coin to turn it might have been better. If you lose the key, a flat blade screwdriver of the right size could probably be used to turn the end cap. ... show more

  • Very cool
It lights up on the end when you flick your wrist. So awesome. Don't lose the key to open the battery insert part though. We keep our key in the wand case.
